Ok... I think I have this condition where I pull my hair out. I have been doing it for about 2 years. I usually do it when I am feeling really down, or I just get frustrated. I haven't gone to the doctor for it yet, but I am going soon. I looked it up online, and it said, it is a form of OCD. I felt really weird after I saw that, cause I have never shown any signs of OCD in my life. Is it a real disorder, or could it just be in my mind??

The thing is... I can't just stop... it's like a subconscience type thing... you know? I have tried to keep my hands busy by working with beads and making jewelry and stuff... but I get so frustrated with the beads, i will pull my hair. I have tried, EVERYTHING!!!

Although it could be a fleeting way you're dealing with anxiety, it would also be trichotillomania, which is compulsive pulling of hair. However, when you start reading about conditions online its easy to start identifying with all kinds of symptoms. Many people will show signs of "disorders", but there are many factors that contribute to a full-blown disorder. However, even if you do wind up with an OCD diagnosis, don't let it bother you....there is a lot of stigma surrounding mental health diagnosis, but often doctors have to provide a diagnosis to the insurance companies in order to assure your coverage.

They have a name for everything these days.. It might be some disorder but you noticing it and wanting to change it is really pretty good. You can probably try to stop doing it without going to the doctors.. No you are not weird your just human.. eat chocolate when your upset it works for me:)

People do do these things when they are frustrated or down or whatever. And yes i think it might be OCD, but you shouldn't worry or feel wierd because alot of people get it in their life time.

Now, simply this: No one in this world can say that you're weird except a doctor.

My answer: it depends on your case. There can be two things: a habit, or a disorder. Only a doctor can say what your case is.

It's called Trichotillomania. See a doctor, preferably a psychiatrist.

online facts aren't always correct. it's good you are going to the doctor. i had a cousin who was doing this because of stress and depression. so you don't necessarily have OCD. good luck at your appointment.
