My sister, who is a scientist, and is a VERY logical person, *swears* that the following story is the reason she believes in God. One night on a mountain road in the Bay Area, she was driving her volvo around a blind mountain bend, when a man in a pink corvette tried to pass in her lane around a woman in a minivan. My sister, being smart, decided she wouldn't go off the road (ravine= certain death), and she wouldn't hit the woman in the minivan. (Killing kid and woman=bad). She decided to close her eyes and pray. When the man's car was about 12 feet in front of her, she looked him straight in the eyes, then closed her own and slammed on the breaks. Her life (allegedly) flashed before her eyes....just before her car came screeching to a halt a few seconds later. She opened her eyes and the man was gone. The woman in the van had kept her eyes open, and was freakin- she said the man had just vanished. Have you an interesting, true story of the unexplained to share? =) Do tell!

Supernatural is a vague term that people use to mean, "Stuff happened or I imagined weird crap and I wish to believe it is aliens, ESP, religious nonsense, or other superstitions." It is always anecdotal, like your story, and has nothing really to back it up. It almost always relies solely on memory of the event, which as Elizabeth Loftus demonstrated in her studies, can be over-written with what we wish the memory to be.

Most stories like this have many more mundane answers, but they are always dismissed because they are less interesting to the person who wishes it to be more "supernatural". For example, in this case the man probably just maneuvered around them and out of the way and the other people lost track of him in the confusion. Like you said, the woman in the car had closed her eyes. And why would this make someone believe there's a god? Do you think that there's a superbeing up there who likes to vanish people to avoid an accident while destroying whole villages in a tsunami? That just doesn't make sense. Where did she suppose that God vanished the guy to? I would think a guy as smart as God is supposed to be would make more sense than that.

I was at an air show in Biggin Hill an old world war two fighter station in England. There was a veteran aircraft on the tarmac, a Lancaster bomber. I left my wife waiting outside why I had a look inside the aircraft, as soon as I entered, It went very quiet! All the noise stopped, and I realised I was experiencing a sort of De ja view! Because I instantly knew where every thing was stowed on the aircraft! the maps, the very pistols, even the flares! I stumbled up to the cockpit and automatically lifted the bomb aimers little door up as if I'd done it a thousand times before! I was a little shocked and disturbed when I left that aircraft, and welcomed the noise of people and aircraft engines revving up! I'd never been in a Lancaster bomber before, I think!

i was visiting this soiree near my cousin's place in a rural area and a huge musical session was going on
it was cold, and was 3 am in the night, as my place was just a block away,i was in good need of sleep, i decided to walk and left the car for my cousin who stayed back .there is an isolated stretch where some guys sleep and a huge barn and an empty field which i had to cross,
as i crossed the barn i saw some guy standing and peeing in the middle of the road. i thought him to be a drunk as just avoided and crossed him, as i crossed him i saw the most skeletal face i ever had seen and i was shocked. i moved fast and when i turned around the guy simply disappeared and all that i could feel was the strong stench of urine and a very cold feeling. it was eerie sort of thing

When I lived in Massachusetts, I rented the top floor of an old farmhouse. I had a lot of weird things happen to me: doors opened and closed themselves, I'd hear people walking in the attic etc. I didn't believe in ghosts, yet I watched as doors unlatched themselves and opened then closed.

I had a clock on the mantel of a blocked up fireplace that used to chime every hour. The batteries ran out on it once and I took all the batteries out (4 AA's) and put them on the mantel to remind myself to buy new batteries the next day. That night, the clock started chiming at about 2AM - without batteries! (I put batteries in it as soon as I got back from work, LOL!)

Once I woke up and threw my robe on and went to make breakfast, when I sat down at the table to drink my coffee, my robe opened (I sleep in the nude) and I saw the imprint of a hand on either one of my calves. The hand prints were too long in the finger and too short in the palm to be my hand prints.

I once forgot to feed my cats before I left for work. I cussed myself out on the T but it was too late to go back. When I got in that evening, however, the cats were fine and dandy. And their food dishes were still half-full!

So I don't know. But I can't explain ANY of the above!

the year after the forest fires ravaged the area in southern British Columbia i live in myself and a few buddies were making plans to go out and pick morel mushrooms. we were in a friend's parents house and his parents are both scholars with tons of books. his father's pride and joy is an old Webster's dictionary that he has displayed on a brass music stand. two of us walked by it at the same time and it was open to the page with the definition of mushrooms and a large sketch depicting one. the dictionary has thousands of pages and not one person had gone near it that day. it really spooked us and there is no explanation to why it was open to that page.
no we were not high or drunk.

I've had a near-death experience and multiple out-of-body experiences.

I've had visions of the Crucifixion, I've met with Fenrir Wolf from Norse mythology.

But naw, nothing supernatural. It's neat what a stressed neurology can cause one to experience all the same.

The lights on my on board computer in my old BMW don't come on when the headlights are on. I was driving home at night and was wondering what time it was and "bing" the light came on just long enough to determine that it was 9:19pm.

Super.

many, many times. Most of them are family members who have died and come back to say either hi or goodbye.
I have had experiences with the virgin Mary. I always smell roses, and my problem is solved.
