. I'm a medical cannabis patient (for intractable chronic pain), and although I had to smoke everyday, several times a day, at HIGH quantities for the last 2 years due to extreme pain and nausea, I'm cutting way back. I'm going back to school and want to ensure that I maintain my high GPA and retain all the information I get from lecture and homework.
The research on long term medical use really isn't stellar, and depending on who pays the bills, various sources say it's either harmless or evil. I really want to ensure that I don't 'burn myself out' as I've seen so many old heads do.
My previous use consisted of smoking indicas- cannabis high in CBD- a cannabinoid useful for pain which contains far less psychoactive compounds than THC. Sometimes I wonder if this has kept me more 'baseline' than most users mentally speaking.
Anyhow, Im currently taking a 2 week hiatus, even though I hurt like hell. Anyone? Ive checked Erowid, but wouldnt mind some more input.

This is my non-professional and non-medically backed opinion...

I would think that you can be more functional on the marijuana than you would be in constant pain.

If you aren't just absolutely stoned out of your mind while you attend class etc., you should be able to learn and retain information just as well as most "sober" people.
