I am assuming you picked
that script to match your
own writing...there's not
much that I can say.
I'm glad you are happy with it.

I got my first one on Saturday and on Monday morning I didn't feel like I had done anything. It wasn't sore and it looked great! By 2pm tho, i felt like I had a horrible sunburn. I think the pain goes in stages. To begin with it doesn't hurt that bad because of the adrenaline then that wears off and it is horrible. Then you think you are all better but soon it will start hurting again. I'm not saying be scared. I'm just saying don't over do it. Do go rubbing it and slapping it and stuff because it is still a wound. Good luck! Congrats!

Congrats on your new artwork! Answers to your questions: 1) Yes; 2) Yes keep the lotion on it for at least 4-5 weeks, minimum; 3) Yes; It might start to peal in about 5-10 days- don't pick at it (Just 'black work' seems to heal quicker than colorized.
As for the last question 4)- pain, it just seems to depend upon your tolerance for it and the area being tattooed. I have had my inner thigh tattooed three times (line work- 5 1/2 hours, coloring, 4 1/2 hours, and final color 5 hours) . I have a high tolerance, some people have a lower one.
Anyway, welcome to the family!!!

Interesting tat !! The location of your tat is on an area that has more flesh vs. getting a tat over a bony area, which tends to be more painful because there is no meat over bony parts of the body. It has only been two days so you won't get any peeling yet. Most tattoo parlors recommended using Bacitracin over the tat. for about 1 week to 10 days. Keep it covered for about 5-7 days. When it starts to itch, then is healing. Avoid going to any tanning booths or having the tat exposure to the sun. Your skin is already irritated, even though you aren't experiencing any discomfort, and tanning or sun exposure will further irritate the area. I have 6 tats and, I 'm thinking of getting another. Tats can be kind of addicting. Congrats on your first tat and Happy Belated Birthday !!

you should always lotion your tattoos.. even after their healed.. it makes them shiny and look better.. make sure it's non-scented lotion right now though..
my artist had me use bacitracin for a week before applying the lotion.. and mine healed up fine.. i would call the shop you got it done at and ask them though..
it wont peel immediately.. mine didn't peel for almost a week.. don't pick it if or when it does peel..
as far as it hurting.. depends on where it was done and your tolerance.. i had mine of my hip and that hurt since it was on top of the bone.. you had a lot of muscle behind your's so it may not hurt..
and i love your tattoo.. it's a great quote..
i hope this helps..

The tat artist should have given you a list of directions on how to take care of your tat for the first week... You should call them and make sure you are doing everything correctly because everyone on here is going to tell you something different on what they did with their tats!
26 yrs old 5 tats.

Dont use vasiline please!! ive seen so many tattoos go bad from that at my school. Use a medicated ointment. Im thinking the kinda my dad used was Bacatine, something close to that. Please dont use vasiline, all it does it get no air to the tattoo and amplifies heat. Lotion may work. I suggest calling the shop and getting exactly what they say to use on new tattoos.

Congrats on your tat!!
Sounds like you're having a normal healing experience. YES, continue to put lotion on it.

Mine was the same way. People always complain about them hurting, etc, but mine was normal in a few days.
I think that means we're lucky!

I was told to use neosporin, NOT lotion. Like one of the other answerers suggested, you should call the tattoo artist and ask them. Don't take our advice on here. You could infect it by putting lotion on it.
