I think it is pretty unlikely for several reasons. Most importantly, it is not in our best interest at this point. The Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, PNAC plan for Iraq was to create a stronghold from which the US would have a stabilizing presence in the middle east. The theory is that we can have a positive influence by establishing an elected government and a strong presence. That theory seems to be having little success in Iraq although history may judge the action differently.
Second, it is unlikely that the regime in Iran will last in the long term. Iran does have elections although they are not the most open. The people of Iran want more freedom and economic opportunity. As opposed to other middle eastern countries, Iran is one of the more progressive populations. It would be foolish to attack those people and create more anti-american radicals.
Third, as stated above, we are stretched very thin at this point. Attacks are down in Iraq but are increasing in Afghanistan. Drug sales in Afghanistan are funding terrorist activities as well as local militia.
I am appalled that so many people are willing to say we should rush into Iran immediately. Many of these people who not say we should invade Iran probably do not know anything about it other than a few blurbs they have heard on the television news. Sending troops into combat is not something that should be taken lightly and should be done only after all other options have been exhausted. This is particularly true where the likelihood is a long and protracted battle and the US is not directly threatened. Of course we should send our troops where the US is threatened. We must have some troops to be able to send also.

How in the world can anyone say we'll declare war on Iran is lacking a large amount of brain cells.
Iraq and Afghanistan were a cake walk
We are over extended in both those countries
We simply do not have the troops to support a third front
Iran has a modern military that is far larger then the previous ones we have had to deal with.
The chance of a war with Iran is not even slim, it is nowhere to be found.
If anything will be done, it will be a surgical strike and probably carried out by a 2nd country like Israel. Then we'll publicly bash them while given them a pat on the back privately and a few billion bucks to boot.
Peace
Jim

Only congress can declare wars. Congress is currently democratic so chances are slim to none. Only chance is if Bush manages to grab some troops, throw them temporarily into Iran, starts a war, and forces congress to declare war because we would be under a response attack from Iran.

Very low I would guess, but a targeted strike is possible. Either scenario is unlikely at this point due to the political fallout. Of course all of this assumes the absence of a tectonic shift in current positions.

The US is already overextended in Iraq. A presidential election is a year away. To get involved in Iran right now would be....extremely bad timing. Don't think it would happen.

well the media says that bush wants to before he leaves but if we do any military action i think it will be an air strike rather than ground forces or air strike and then the ground forces just make sure everything is done but to answer your question 15%

Not very high anytime soon. Perhaps if Putin goes there and someone punches his ticket (or tries to) then Russia will take care of the problem for us.

Support Iraq?
Yeah just what we need. Another oppressive country with oppressive leaders and nuclear weapons, thinking they they can dictate their regimes to the world.
