I am German and do not speak it.
Our son, wanted to take German in school, but we had told him that being Spanish is more widely used, he was better off taking that. German is not spoken very much here in the United States.
Unless you plan to go to Germany and live or go to school, then yes, pursue your interests.
Otherwise, no, don't take it.
It is a beautiful language.
Another hint:
Take Spanish so that when your walking down the street or working somewhere, and you have Spanish speaking people talking behind your back (which is VERY common) you'll actually know what they are saying!
Taking Spanish also will land you a better job, because now a days, a lot of them can't even speak English. Shame on them if they live here in the United States.

German takes a short time to get. It doesn't take long but it takes a lot of practice to work and since I once spoke the language one time, it sounds a lot like English. I still speak it and I will activate it again when I want to, maybe after I'm done fluently Japanizing myself or sooner. I am so blessed. It's not that difficult. I've been wanting to Germanize myself since 2008 and by 2009, I was almost speaking perfect German so you can too.

I don't know what nationality you belong too. If English is a foreign language to you, than lern it correct. If it is your mother tounge, than try to refresh it that your spelling is getting better. Any foreign language you are able to learn is always a help. I'm German and let me tell you, our grammar is quite difficult.
