just wanted to know if there was many french people in australia....
i'm french, and i've a friend who is gone in australie for 2 weeks and still no news.... i'm worry!!!

There are quite a few French speakers in Australia from France, of course, but also French Polynesia, Mauritius, Vanuatu, Algeria, Canada and probably a few more. Many children learn French at school so s/he should be able to make him/herself understood.

Your friend is probably having a really good time and has just forgotten to ring or send a postcard.

the 25 years ive been in australia ive only met about 3 french people here, although i know about 5 people

Many Australians find the French accent very attractive, so I agree with Tentofield. Votre ami est sans doute trop occupe pour envoyer des cartes postales. (Your friend is too busy to send postcards).

Australia is a very multicultural place with lots to offer people of all nationalities.

I'm sure your friend is having a great time and has just forgotten to send you a postcard.
