Most importantly, make sure she understands that masturbating is normal and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Maybe just let her know that it's important to be a bit more discreet about it, out of pure respect for others. Tell her that not everyone is as comfortable with their sexuality as she is (again, assure her that there's nothing wrong with it, as long as she respects herself and others.)
I can't believe how many of you think the best thing to do is "ignore it and it'll go away".....

This is a very difficult thing to address because you are her father and not her mother. So I think that you just need to start out with...Honey this is kind of embarrassing for me but I need to address this issue with you... and then after you say that then you can go ahead and address it head on.
Simply tell her that these kinds if things are private matters and it should stay that way. Although this can be embarrassing for you but this will help your daughter understand clearly that masturbation should be done in a discreet manner.
It you are too embarrass to talk to her then maybe you can ask your sister or friend to kind of address the importance of being discreet with masturbation in an indirect and non accusatory way. I wish you luck.

I would tell her she can be heard. There is no other way of saying it. She screamed.. I think she is the one that should be worried about embarrassment not you. She is 14 not 4. She should know that a certain amount of noise can be heard. Like screaming. You should make her aware she should be careful of not being heard. Otherwise it would seem perverted on both sides. If you let her continue as if you can't hear. And if she is making noise aware she can be heard.

Just politely tell her that you have notice some noises coming from her room, is everything ok, ya didn't sneak any boys in there or nothing, did ya.
Don't embarrass her and let her know, you know just go around it like above and she will watch her sounds, I bet.

oh dear..must be hard for you, as a man to approach your 14 year old daughter about any women stuff...but masturbation, and catching her at it??
i think you should just tell her that solitary masturbation is just that, and that it is a very personal thing for her to do, and that you , as her father should not know every time she is doing it.
don't worry by the way...its perfectly normal for 14 year old girls to masturbate, only they ususally are more discreet about it!!
good luck, hope all goes well for u xxx

You have to pick the right time to discuss this with her.
Dont start with what she is doing discuss things that can lead up to it. Every body does it. Having been in her position the conversation help me understand a lot of things I did not know.
Be open and honest.

This is a natural thing, I am glad you realize that, she is just letting go of stress, I would not do anything, if it bothers you, then leave the room or go someplace else.
When you do it, I am sure she hears you also! Heck, we all do it!!!!
Solution, simple, just go to a different room, and let her express herself!
I always say, better for her masturbating, than to be sexually active!!!!
