my ps2 slim is not working?

I plugged the red and white cords into the tv and the power cord into the power and ps2. I pressed the restart button and it turned from red to green. The disc spins but the game doesn't show up on the tv. This is the first time i have tryed to play the playstation but it is not new and my tv is not old. What is wrong?

Red and white plugs are for audio. Yellow is for video. If your tv is mono - than plug red for audio, yellow for video.
