My advice to you is start quitting now. You will not be able to smoke while in Basic training. After basic you will go to Tech school, Air Education Training Command (AETC) prohibits students from any tobacco use, smoking or dipping during duty hours. Don't even attempt to sneak a smoke in during the day, the instructors will be able to smell it a mile away. By the way, this goes to all students regardless of how long they have been in.

Bottom line, start the quitting now, rather than just before you ship out. Good luck

Basic Training is easy. If you get into shape before you go you will have a better outcome. Basic is basically teaching you "military basics" and getting you into shape. When you go to the training to teach you your new job then you get that. If you keep your mouth shut and don't be a smart@$$ than you won't get smoked as much. Good Luck

Well, the VAST majority of people who get in pass through basic training. The last thing the services want to do is spend tens of thousands of dollars on people and have them fail. The system is set up for you to get through it, not to fail, although during basic they will try to drag you down and make you think you might fail. Again, that's the last thing they want to happen. The academic type work is very easy, but if you struggle in this area, I'm not sure what to say except FOCUS. And of course you should get yourself back in shape. Time to get serious about life!

Airforce man, no problem with that. It doesn't really matter if you train now or don't. Cause when you get there they should shape you up, not sure how hardcore the airforce, in the army myself. Jus quit smoking its bad for you anyone and you can save money. Plus in basic you won't be able to smoke.

Basic training is 1 % physical and 99% mental It's not about having your body already trained so that it will be "easy" It's about pushing yourself beyond your limits so that you develop the mental confidence to know that you can do what seems to be impossible

If you are truly ready to make a committment and not just blowing smoke to impress the girls, then, yes, you can make it through basic. Millions before you have, they're no better than you are!
Eyes and ears open, mouth shut, work together as a team and keep your sense of humor, you're on your way.

The air force is more into 'brains'. I remember basic in the navy and I would say about 10 - 20% do not make it due to medical, discipline, or other reasons. Some get recycled.

They do play some mind games on you, so the less you think the better off you may be.

You might want to consider the Army or Marines; they are more physical and less mental.

an easy way to quit smoking is www.chantix.com checkout this med to help quit. my wife and six friends that tried it and quit in around 3 weeks. don't sweat boot camp. physically they will get you in shape. but it's better to start now. mentally remember when their in your *** they could have easily taken another 2 steps and let into the next guy down. remember if it's knowledge he's telling you remember it otherwise let it go in one ear and out the other. good luck. check out air force.com it will let you know how you need to prepare yourself for boot camp.

you will struggle with the pt. you need to try and up your fitness now before you go in.
passed fitness doesnt mean much its the level you are at now (quite bad if ur dying after 5min!)
its pretty easy to build up fitness though and if you work at it and give yourself rest breaks then you will do this quickly!"
