Number one and most important Iran does not have enough missiles to inflict that many deaths of American soldiers in Iraq. Number two is that they cannot possibly take that many prisoners. The reasons for one and two is the fact that our people are spread out all over Iraq and are not just sitting at a bus stop waiting for this to happen.

If Iran were to launch any sort of attack on US Forces, it would be the end of Iran. We would not use nuclear weapons because they are unnecessary in this case. First we soften them up by destroying their military command and control system, destroying the large weaponry (tanks, big guns, etc.), then destroying their army like we did in Iraq. The best part of this is that fact that we can do this without ground troops. Our aircraft with GPS guided bombs can not only hit the truck, but can go through the window of your choice. Once we have finished the air attacks, we walk into Tehran and take over.

William B is quite right, there's no way Iran could ever pull off a feat like you're saying. Even with hostages, precision munitions would minimize friendly fire while we whiped out enemy positions from the sky. Tehran might not be cheering us as we enter the capitol city, but I'll bet five bucks that after reconstruction puts a McDonalds on top of every building we destroyed, that they'd know the word "supersize" by the time we made them the fifty-first state.

Hopefully Iran isn't that dumb. We would end their nation with a snap of the fingers (and that with 100% conventional attacks).

if this was to happen iran would as promised by majhmudeemjjeen (iranian president) simultaneously attack israel bringing israel, another nuclear power, into direct conflict with iran.

it can be argued that the usa has surronded iran on two fronts the west being iraq the east being afghanistan in order to attack iran eventually. however, the iraq campaign being what it is has lead to this strategy being terrible optimistic. the usa could not directly attack iran from iraq plain and simple. it could back israel to air attack it tough
