{This was the choice made by Jesus." Forgive them Father, they know not what they do" }

Isn't that self contradictory? why would two beings, who are meant to be one, have conflicting interests, while the lesser, is telling god what to do? god is almighty, all intelligent, he can will whatever he wants in a heart beat. why would you even need someone to do sacrafice themselves, (keeping in mind that they are the same being) to atone for something that he could forgive?

And if God were to hasten for men the ill consequences of their actions as they would seek to hasten on good, the end of their term of life would have been already brought upon them. But We leave those who look not for the meeting with Us to wonder distractedly in their transgression.

I can in no way believe that a god with the intelegence that humans say god has would create this universe and others and fill the earth with all sorts of animals and use human type emotions. It is totaly against any logic of an intelegence.I.E. How could any god hold any part of it's creation with more value than any other part. I.E. When looking at the food chain I see no logical reason for humans to even be here. The most illogical reason for humans being is for some to go to a place that is better than earth and some others become a piece of toast. An awfull lot of intelegence going to waste here.

Jesus wasn't a spur of the moment decision that God made. He told the Hebrews about it long before it happened. And then if you read enough of the Bible, you find out this:
Genesis 22:8
Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb"

which connects to this:
John 1:36
When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"

He's that smart. He really is that smart.

There are a number of things that are not talked about specifically in the Bible, or things which are hidden for only some to discover. Some of those things refer to the spiritual aspects of what it was like in the spiritual world when Satan fell, when Adam and Eve succumbed to the serpent, and what happened to the powers of death and sin when they did.

Not all things are known, but the connotation is that there were definite realms of power that had to be dealt with by God.

The line sometimes used: For sin comes Death, is coupled with:
Leviticus 17:11
For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.

We have trouble seeing the connection, or the reality of what occurred in the spiritual world. But through this we might be able to guess, that when God sets something up, it remains that way. And if there is a transgression, there must be atonement. It's the way we might see it physically with the sacrifices of the Old Testament, but also in the sacrifice of Jesus in the New Testament.

The spiritual laws are there, we have evidence of them, though it's difficult to know what that actually is - we only have a glimpse.

First of all, Jesus was God son, a different person / individual from God himself.

Jesus had to come in the flesh to offer himself up as a ransom. As the scriptures say, without blood being shed there can be no forgiveness of sin.

Absolving and saving are two different things. One is a choice--a choice that needs to made by man--the other is not a choice. God does absolve us already weather you are willing to accept his waving of his hands or the love he has given you or not. To choose--ah, now that's the rub. To be, or not to be, that is the question. To accept, or not to accept, it is for the human individual to decide. Even God can't decide for you. He will respect your choice, that much is certain.

Have you ever known somebody that you loved so much that you were willing to die for them? Maybe Jesus had to die. He did have to die to establish the new covenant, but that might be too confusing to you right now. But haven't you EVER felt so close to someone that you would die them? You may not understand it, but it is true. Jesus died because he wanted to bare on his heart the shame and guilt we carry because of our sins. To "sin" is an old archery term. Oh dear! I'm afraid you sinned on that shot sir. IT means "to miss" or more accurately, "to miss the mark." To "sin" in life is the mature realization that we are not perfect, and our love and care and what ever we do is going to seem hypocritical and sometimes come off as slights and insults WHEN we really meant for them to be love and acceptance. You know what I mean. We have all been there. These are the things of life. Because we do this kind of imperfect stuff, the spiritual LAW says we all deserve to die and rot in everlasting torment. Jesus said, like most atheists, "wait a minute, I don't think that should happen. Man should be given a second change." The law says, NOBODY IS PERFECT ENOUGH TO BYPASS THE LAW! God said, "my son is." Jesus said, because you loved them so much, "I will pay the price for what they don't understand." God said okay. Christ died as a: big word coming ---> "propitiation" as a trade for everlasting atonement. That is how He absolved mankind, the rest is up to us weather we want to accept it. There isn't a written contract, but there is a heartfelt one. Like in the old days we could give our word instead of signing a piece of paper. We give our word, to turn our will and our lives over the care of God as we understood him, praying only for His will, and the power to carry that out. Asking the power of this delusional and irrational God to run the show. Once we do, life doesn't change much, but WE DO!

Email me if you want. I'll be praying for you.

You obviously must know him well if you know that he can without cause "instantly absolve mankind". But God is very specific in the Bible on his method of forgiveness, and limited only by his own will.

Precisely. Why go through all the song-and-dance when everything he didn't like could be fixed with the bat of an eyelash? Or is humanity's "folly" so much more powerful than God that he has to go through an elaborate ritual involving blood, pain, and death in order to fix it?

When you get right down to it, the Christian faith is claiming that humanity is so important to the universe that everything in existence "went wrong" when our mythical ancestors made a simple mistake.

Egotistical? Nahh...couldn't be.

Oh, wait...

God created man/woman according to likeness and image - a creative act purposely done in the counsel of the Holy Trinity. Of all the creation, only man/woman was given the spirit of God. The spirit of God enables man/woman to love, hate, think and reason out, be responsible, be creative or destructive. If God erase man/woman from creation, as if they did not exist, then God would have to deal with the spirit given to man which is immortal. God would have to deal with the soul which has memories, wisdom, and feelings. God would have to put His own "image and likeness" into nothingness as if they never ever existed - something God with all His power could never accomplish. For the memory of man/woman will remain in His mind, and the spirit that once reside in man/woman continues to exist.

That's why the solution of erasing man /woman was never an option to solve the problem of sin. The only way to solve the problem of sin is for the "image and likeness of God",who sinned, come back to God in humble repentance. But the soul that sinned cannot just repent for the sin and the knowledge of sin is so powerful and that sin prevents man to change back to its original state.

So that's where Christ came in. Christ has to pay the penalty of sin - He has to suffer and die. Suffer, becasue that's what sin does to your body and soul. Die, because sin separates us from God. Christ has to deal with suffering and death by paying the penalty through suffering, and conquering death through death and ressurection.

I agree with michael c! It sounds like a bad movie script. And there are too many questions and doubts towards the existence of god!
