Yes they wear dog tags....and I don't think your ranting!
It is nice to see a young person, assuming by your avatar, that knows the value of what it is the soldiers give by serving in the military, and what they give up, and what they leave behind! Because there are many people young and old who don't appreciate what they do, and it is nice to see someone does care what all they sacrifice! Teach your children to appreciate the same as you.....

Whoa.. your numbers are WAY off.
If you'll follow the link provided by the poster just above me, you'll find the following numbers, which are all, typically, listed together.
US Servicemen POW/MIA status (As of August 26, 2007)
Currently listed as captured - 4
MIA - 2 (plus 11 civilian)
POWs recovered to date - 8
Killed in Action and Non-combat related deaths - 3,722

There are exactly four POW/MIAs from Operation Iraqi Freedom. They are:
PVT Byron Fouty, age 19. Missing since 12 May 07.
SPC Alex Jimenez, age 25. Missing since 12 may 07.
SPC Ahmed Altaie, age 42. Missing since 23 Oct 06.
SSG Keith Maupin, age 24. Missing since 9 APR 04.
As of 09 October 2007 there were:
3,804 Deaths in Iraq (3,103 from Combat related causes, 701 from non-hostile causes).
28,093 Wounded in Action (15,493 were sent home, 12,600 were returned to duty).
443 deaths in Afghanistan (256 in action, 187 from non-hostile causes).
1,627 Wounded in Action (644 were sent home, 983 were returned to duty).
I don't know where you got your "facts" but they are wrong. We DO NOT leave our comrades behind and it is wrong for you to use their sacrifice to make your political point. I am a Soldier and what some might call a "liberal" and i tell you in no uncertain terms that you are a ...no, I'm going to call you names, even if you deserve to be called it.
Stop giving the Far Right more ammunition for their anti-liberal rhetoric. Verify your facts, and stop using the deaths, and sacrifice of my brothers and sisters to make your point.
We wear our "Dog Tags" with pride and honor; show us some respect.

All troops have two dog tags issued to them. However, wearing dog tags doesn't prevent the possibility of troops ending up missing or being captured. It's just one of the realities of war that will be around forever. As of right now there are 4,452 missing from WWI, 78,773 from WWII, 8,100 from Korea, 1,773 from Vietnam, 12 from Desert Storm, and 13 from the current Iraq war,

Penny Mae, We are told in the Bible that we are supposed to support our government no matter what our feelings. I do so completely. Our troops are totally volunteer which means that they are there for our benefit not because we force them to do so. I believe that makes them especially GREAT Men and Women! I will continue to pray for and support them in all of our efforts overseas and at home. Have a great week. Thank You, Eds .

I'm wearing issued ID tags now that look pretty much the same as they always have.
You can order bands from a few websites.

this is a rant, not a question
but yeah, it does seem rather a shame that even these days, many go missing
be even better if we could find a way to solve problems without getting a bunch of our people wasted for nothing, huh?
