I know Davis is a safe city overall, but where are the safest parts? I'm thinking of moving there. North, East, South, or West?

There really isn't a "bad" part of Davis. Most of the crime in Davis is property crime, theft, burglaries, car burglaries that sort of thing. Here is a link to the Davis PD's crime log http://www.cityofdavis.org/police/log/ this will give you an idea of what goes on in the city. If you are looking at apartments there are a few complexes to avoid, check some of the apartment rating sites for info on apartments in town. I wont list any here but if you email me I will share. Davis is very expensive to live in, everything costs more here, there really isnt any good shopping and no real good places to eat, lots of pizza and fast food. If your buying a house look into Wildhorse, Stonegate and Mace Ranch, Wildhorse and Mace ranch are newer developements, Stonegate is older. I grew up in old east Davis and it was a good place to grow up but Davis has a certain mentality about it, you either fit in or you dont, you really need to be white, educated and kind of upscale to fit in. If your raising kids there is a problem with nothing to do and there are drugs in the schools and plenty of underaged drinking so you will want to moniter your children closely.

Justin and Laura,
You need to go take a look at Davis and see what you like the best. It's really up to your own good or bad fortune as to whether you are a victim of crime. It's a great city to live in, yet, there is some crime. It's scattered around, but not many neighborhoods have a lot of crime. It's not like a much bigger city that has bad neighborhoods. It is a unique city in the world, and worth living in, though fairly expensive.

I allow email through my profile if you have more questions.
