No, someone should be feeding her proper meals at proper times. Over eating comes from eating too much of the wrong foods and having no substance in the stomach, being bored, and /or being depressed.
They need a certain amount of nutrience -and they need to get that daily.
Children are not rationally able to make adequate decisions concerning their life and their health. They cannot comprehend consequences of health issues they do not understand. They don't know what scurvie is, or that it's caused by lack of vitamins-They don't know about osteporosis due to lack of calcium..etc.. They can't judge..that's what parents are for.

She could learn to cook by helping out and doing simple things, as she is only 6 she can't be expected to even reach the top of a stove safely without pooring boiling water all over herself (which can leave burn marks that scar for life). But She can help crack eggs, help stir juice, help put the dishes on the table and help do anything easy and simple. She should also be cleaning off her own plates if she's at that stage in life. SOme kids arent ready yet, and really need direction before they get to pick whatever they want to eat.
Someone should be making the decisions-kids need stability.

6 year olds can be taught to make simple meals with adult supervision but if she's always eating I'd wonder why.

Is she over eating or does she have a big appatite because she's going through a groth spurt? Is she eating healthy foods or junk food? Perhaps a checkup at the doctor is in order.

Not to cook but enough to grab her own fruit and probably cereal and some milk ( from a one quart bottle, a gallon will be to heavy for her)

Prepare some food in advance and place it on an area where she can reach it. Like:
Washed fruit,
Granola bars(pre-open).
Sandwiches in zip-lock bags in the fridge.
Goldfish and pretzels in little zip-lock bags.

She is old enough to get and wash fruit. She is old enough to make a peanut butter (or any other type of) sandwich. She is old enough to get a container of yogurt out of the refrigerator. She should be old enough to heat things in the microwave. I would think she would be a little too young to use the stove though. She probably is not tall enough to use the stove safely.

that all depends on if she's tall enough to get into the cabinet where the foods kept. Sometimes 6 year olds are rather short

Yes she is certainly old enough! I look after a four year old who can do it. Of course their are restrictions that need to be set in place. No heat and no sharp objects! Try teaching her to make a sandwhich with a plastic knife! or getting her own fruit

No, if she continues to eat she could be in serious risk of diabetes. Children don't pick out the healthy foods to eat, they want cookies, soda, chips, ice cream. If she is hungry after school allow her a healthy snack such as one fruit. Manage her eating at dinner allowing one plate. Over eating will stretch her stomach making the situation worse.

She should be old enough to start making her own food, not COOKING but pouring milk into a bowl filled with cereal, or making herself a PB&J. I learned when I was in kindergarten.

Yes.

Just teach her about nutritious foods, so she knows what to eat, & monitor that.

Make sure she knows about kitchen safety--no sharp knives without supervision, no use of regular oven or stove.

It's better to eat as a family, together. Ask your parents to start a policy of having breakfast & dinner together, almost every day!

She is not old enough to use the stove or microwave, but she should be able to get pop tarts, cereal or snacks that are easy to open.
