Ok... I did an online test... I hear there is no cure... I already lost all my friends, I'm broke due to compulsive speding bouts even though I'm really poor. I can't afford any healthcare...

What should I do?

It says on the test that if you get 7 checkmarks, then you might be bipolar and should see a specialist... I got all but 2 of the checks...

Are you in the U.S.? Check the blue government pages at the front of your phone book. They will have either county medical clinics or low cost health agencies or departments that you can go to. I went for 5 yrs without health insurance until I married my husband because my job didn't come with insurance, so I used the Community Health clinics in San Diego County. I'd see a doctor or nurse practitioner (who can also prescribe meds) for $30, and then my meds were either free or had a $5 copay. I believe every major metro area in the country has stuff like this, so they can correctly diagnose you and give you the medicine you need.

Congratulations. You may have made a discovery that can change your life for the better.
People with mental health problems - going unhelped - can have a difficult time in life - job-relationships -money -perceptions -understanding others - being understood by others - impulsiveness or lack of motivation - problems with health coming out of excessive stress or a wild lifestyle..........and on and on it goes, snowballing with one problem causing others.

When you get diagnosed and treated appropriately with medication -- medication you take EVERY DAY --
It will put you closer to being on an even playing field with everybody else. Life can be more fair for you. When you make the effort and take part in Therapy with a Counselor or Psychologist, you can receive much from being personally coached as far as perceptions, habits, urges, and so much more to get you going right in life.

To get started, contact a community Mental Health center. Tell them you have mental health problems, and see what they can help you with. Are you in the USA? If your income is minimal, there's a possibility you can have your care and medication covered by Medicaid (through your County Human / Social Services office ) to get your health care initiated. Otherwise, Go to your public / community Hospital. Tell them you are depressed, and ask for treatment. They may adjust their fees, or put you on a payment plan..

Once you get started on your treatment, holding a job will be something you can do, and your spending bouts will be more under your control. There is HOPE! There is a lot of work, but a great life ahead.

See about community clinics or the county health office.

Apply safeguards to your life. Don't drink alcohol or caffeine.
Keep a journal, and if you have a good relationship with your mom, put her in charge of your money (a savings account without a card) beyond a certain allowance, sitting down together to pay your bills once a week. Get rid of credit cards, or have her hold one emergency one.

Or if you can't force structure onto your own life, consider joining the military. If nothing else, you'd get a physical and psych eval.

See bipolar disorder, at http://www.ezy-build.net. (.net.nz/~shaneris) on page 10. Contact your county/local mental health agency, go to a free clinic, or hospital ER. Lithium Carbonate mood stabiliser is $4 for a 1 month's supply, at WalMart, but you need a prescription. Gambling is a sure way to lose what little money you may have. Play online Texas Holdem for free (don't be tempted to gamble for $$$: YOU WILL LOSE: THERE ARE SHARKS!!!, and the house takes a small percentage). There are several sites; use your search engine: www.poker.com is one, but I preferred the Gibraltar based site (forgot which: I stopped after getting a Royal Flush, in hearts: no point, anymore). Restrict yourself to the occasional, single, lottery ticket, at the very most: OR, like an alcoholic, or drug addict, you may have to stop completely.

I'm in a similar situation. I don't really have friends and am to broke to go to therapy. The first thing you got to do is controll the spending habbit which is hard because your using to fill a void. Then you can help yourself by learning about issues on psychology, abuse, motivation, mental illness online and at the library.

If you are financially destitute (no job, no income) then you may be able to apply for food stamps and medicaid at your local welfare office (dept of human resources). Once you've seen a physician and are diagnosed as Bipolar, you can apply for SSI (Supplimental Security Income). This is for people who are considered disabled and are under retirement age (too young for Social Security). You apply for this at any Social Security office. But, make sure you have a diagnosis and a letter from your physician describing your condition as permanently disabling.

It's always tricky believing what we read on the internet!

When it comes to a mental illness, 'Bi Polar' it's something that you should discuss with a GP. I completely understand that you've stated that your broke... but do you have any friends you can talk to?

Dealing with this alone shouldn't really be an option either.

Don't waste any time go to your local church and tell your pastor right away. Churches always help people with needs. Don't waste time that disease can be dangerous.
