I had the opposite reaction with Abilify when I first started it- it gave me weird bursts of strange energy. But now it does make me kind of lethargic. If it's making you really extremely tired maybe you need a lower dose? It's a good medicine, as far as I am concerned. It works well without a lot of side effects for me now that I am used to it. How much are you taking?

Although I have not ever used lamictal in my medications, I have used Abilify and Klonopin. The Abilify did not cause me any stomach upset and I tolerated it very well, on an full or empty stomach. I too was very reluctant to even try it, for I have tried so many other medications in this category and with miserable side effects. So I was wrong with Abilify and it truly helped. However the Klonopin needed to be taken with some food or milk or else I became very nauseaous and queasy. I took it in small, very small doses and then worked up to like 1 to 2mg maximum.

Is it helping your depression? That's the biggest need. If it is helping, talk to your psychiatrist (you aren't using a GP or PCP for an antipsychotic?) about side effects. Then give it some time at your target dose. Hopefully, you've already tried a couple SSRIs, and SNRI, and maybe a tricyclic before switching over to what's basically a bipolar antidepressant or an antipsychotic for mania and schizophrenia.
Abilify was too activating for me. Gave me akathisia as well. I'm bipolar, however, so might not be a fair comparison if you are MDD.

Most anti-depressants have a sedative in them to help people sleep. You will feel tiered for a week or so until your body get used to the medication and than things will go back to normal as far as you feeling sleep is concerned. Just give it time it can take from two to eight weeks for anti- depressant medication to work. But when it kicks in you should feel a whole lot better and if you don't let your doctor know it some times takes some experimentation to find the right medicine. Good luck

Yes I too am experiencing tiredness while taking abilify. I was on a small does of 5mg and my doctor told me to halve it to 2.5mg. Noticed that the tiredness has reduced.
Cheers
Emanuel.
