If I asked you who/what is God you might say: The creator of the Universe, The source of everything that is, Alpha and Omega, Uncaused cause etc...etc..
So who/what is Satan?

I`m asking because I find the concept of Satan even more improbable than the concept of God, and that`s saying allot.

Satan is a fallen angel named Lucifer. He was the head angel but craved too much power and ended up wanting to be God. He got sent out of Heaven and to Hell. He is the opposite spirit to God, who craves us and wants us to turn our back on God.

this is complex so bear with me.
If all of creation is simply the will of God then God cannot unmake that which he has conceived because one cannot un-conceive of a thing. He could destroy anything that was conceived as vulnerable to destruction but he could not make a thing cease to exist in any form.
If god wished for thinking beings to interact with he would have probably first simply created beings (angels). But they would be limited to the knowledge he gave them and infinity predictable. Eventually he may have conceived of a being that was nearly his equal but that being might feel that it deserved the prime position just as much as God. The two would eventually separate to opposite sides of creation because they could not destroy one another nor could they get along. There you have Satan or Lucifer or whatever you want to call it. Another immortal being with most of the knowledge of God but not all of his power.
God has had far more time to consider the problem of creating an independently thinking being then we have. The solution is to create a being that starts knowing nothing and is compelled t acquire knowledge without limit. It would be truly unique. Thats us.
Satan, who is made in gods image, would have just as much desire to interact with us as God does.
I believe Satan is a creation of God who has some amount of rivalry. Probably good natured but rivalry all the same. Neither can hurt the other and now their only way to score points on one another is through us.

Satan is the fallen angel, Lucifer. He is spirit and attacks human souls. Proof? If you're ready to accept Christ as the Son of God, you must be ready to accept other doctrine. In that respect, God created everything seen (or gave us the technology for it). God also created angels. He created Lucifer to be a cherub. Greed, lust, and wrath consummed him. It led him to fight God's army. Lucifer was defeated and kicked out with his followers. One third of the angels were banished. Satan plots with clever ways. Only by the Word of God are we safe.

Wow! I can't believe that you find Satan to be improbable. Satan was once good, he decided one day that he wanted to be bigger and better than God. So he rallied some angels and tried to take over heaven. (like that was ever gonna happen) but he failed (of course) and God kicked him and his followers out of heaven. (excellent idea) Now him and his followers roam about earth seeking who they can steal, kill and destroy. The word says that if you are not for God, then you are anti-christ. To the non-believer, Satan has stole from you. He has robbed you of the ability to believe in the only Godhead that can save your soul from an eternal hell!

Satan is the Bogeyman, cousin of Freddie Kreuger, brother of Jason, bad seed of the coupling of Leatherface and that killer chick from Urban Legends.
Satan inhabits every stuffed clown that has been given as a gift that sits somewhere in people's bedrooms and ... watches. He is the source of clownaphobia and played several cameo roles on Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Be afraid. Be very afraid .......

Satan's root word in Aramaic literally means the obsessed, or the blamer etc.
It is to become fixated upon things below the highest pursuit.
God bless.

Lucifer, who fell and became Satan, was the most beautiful of the angels, the one over music in heaven, who had the most gifts and talents etc.
He is the one who began to say to himself that he would ascend and be as the Most High God. At that time iniquity was found in him. Iniquity is the propensity for evil.

In my opinion, Satan is a device designed by the Christian church that is much like a shepherd-dog. He keeps Christians in the fold by circling around. If you stray away at all from Christian teachings, the church tells you that you are being led astray by Satan. Anything that the church says is of Satan, one must avoid. This keeps people from even looking at other faiths.

At this point in my life, I don't believe that Satan is an actual being, but a mere symbol in our society of the powerful dark side of human nature.
*The things we don't yet understand, we give to the supernatural*.

satan was an angel who rebelled against God and was kicked out along with many followers of satan. he has and will go to any lengths to continue to gain followers. It is very subtle and conniving. Many don't even realize it because of the subtleties.
