they don't it is bologna even tho I never heard of a silent G before, but I think that's cause it is Italian and maybe they do have silent "g's". Bo LOAN NA. Baloney is, if I'm not mistaken, the American way of saying Bologna. Also for the all the crap my ex told me LOL LOL LOL.

i have often asked myself that same question...and then I tried to pronouce "bologna" in such a way that is sounds like "baloney" and I couldn't...not based on that spelling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have thought the same thing though.
