get some good boots for starters ....tenets . you can't hike without them .Maybe philosophers brand in an appropriate size and do by all means check out the quotes of Albert Einstein . He's he's like a good tent and a warm sleeping bag replete with encouragement and clues of direction for the journey that an Indian scout could appreciate.
Myself I bought into Alan Waites on Zen Buddhism and Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. they can tell you how to make your journey alive and well.

Well Gar, you really are behind the times. What you need is a GPS. That baby will tell you where you are and where it's at. Then all you need to do is figure out where you are going and it will get you there.
On the other hand, if you don't know where you are going, any road will do.

No, but stroke a sewing needle with a magnet a few times, then stick it in your eye. I'm sure you'll point north once in 360. Or just use the map.
