Well, I've heard that people use something like this to help the wires from scratching their mouth. Tell me exactly how this wax works, how you put it on, how often you'll need it, etc.

At the drug store they sell soft wax you can apply to your braces. yes, it keeps the wires/brackets from scratching your mouth. Its very soft, and you can roll it into a ball easily. You take just enough to cover the part of your braces that is bothering you, and it will stick. The best thing honestly, is to let your braces rip up your lips a bit for the first day or two, then apply the wax before you go to bed. This way, your cheeks/lips will heal over night, and you will form callouses. You cannot depend on wax the whole time you have braces, unfortunately you need to build up callouses in your cheeks/lips so they stop bothering you altogether.

The wax is usually packed in small plastic box. You just get a small portion, roll it in a ball, press on the area where wire or bracket poke thru. The wax fall of after you eat or chew gum, just replace the wax again. Stop using the wax if you feel no more discomfort. Ask your dentist for some wax, and the wax is none toxic so it's ok if you swallow some.

you get it from the orthodontist or from the drug store. All you do is pull off a small piece of the wax, roll it into a ball and stick it on the wire that is bothering you. You replace it whenever you eat (usually). Good luck!

i recently got braces too - with two fingers, take a small amount of the wax and press it between ur fingers til its soft... then just press it onto the bracket which is rubbing against your gum! it wont come off by itself, but it will when you brush... if you swallow it by accident, dont worry, its not harmful lol. good luck with the braces... i still got a whole year to go.. yipeee LOL x

You just put it on when the Braces hurt your gums.
Umm.. You put it on your wire where it hurts.
It's really easy and if your gonna get Braces, You'll get the hang of it.

THE DENTAL WAX IS BASICALLY SOFT BEESWAX.
YOU PLACE A SMALL 2-3 INCH STRIP ON THE WIRE AND THIS WILL MAKE IT MORE COMFORTABLE.
