Yes, a big think heavy blanket that smothers out all light and doesn't let you breathe, so you just lay there, sweating and suffocating under the weight.

I don't believe in God, but just once, I'd like to see a sticker that says God bless the world. Bless the whole world and everyone on it. Not just the US. There are people out there suffering a great deal more than people here in the US, bless them. But it makes no difference what kind of silly sticker you have you your bumper, or what words you use, or what imaginary friend you talk to. None of those matter, it's your actions that get things done.

The other day I was with a friend who went through the Taco Bell drive through, and the lady on the speaker asked if we wanted to donate a dollar to some charity to help the hungry. I thought, well what a nice tax deduction for Taco Bell. One or two Janes and Johns with a dollar to spare aren't going to end hunger. There are multitudes of people with the means to make a difference but do they? No.

I hate getting into a rant, nothing is black and white enough to rant about.

I believe that God is being EXTREMELY merciful to America. Because if we got what we deserved it would be death. God has put up with us, far longer than we deserve. For those who know Jesus, let us humble ourselves and pray and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, so that He will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land. And for those who do not believe, and know Jesus as Savior, be thankful He is giving you more chances to come to Him- however He could raise that spiritual blanket as you call it very soon, so TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION.

People are talking about gods and all that only in the narrow, limited and altogether minor world of Fundamentalists. Most Americans, the vast majority, are moving on. It is, after all, the 21st century and not the First. The drift toward the USA from West Europe and Canada and other civilized nations is growing thanks to science, communications and other technologies.

LOL...depends on who you ask, I guess...fundamentalists are sure we're losing touch with God, with the Bible being "banned" from schools and such, and atheists are concerned that we're on the verge of becoming a theocracy, with Christians having too much clout. As is usual when dealing with two extremes, I suspect somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

If you mean a "protective" or "blessing" blanket, no. If this were truly a "Christian nation", there would be no legal abortion and we would not be the nation involved in the most wars, the nation with the highest murder rate, the nation with the highest consumption of drugs (both illicit and prescription), etc.

Rev 17

4And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5And upon her forehead was a name written
MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

18And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Rev 18

2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

9And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

10Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

11And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

15The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

16And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

17For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

18And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

Read the entirety of both chapters. Then ask your self what nation in the world can be described thusly other than the United States.

We are five percent of the world's population, and consume 25% of its resources.

Spiritual Blanket? To which spirit do you refer?

I think we did at one time. I think we were founded by Christians for Christians but we are loosing that.

I have been so heartbroken to see how many sour people are on here that do not believe in Christ. I guess I live in the Biblebelt and have been sheltered against the hatred and sadness.

Not only do they not believe, which is their right, but they are ugly to people who do. It seems Christians are in open season but they wouldn't dare be rude or hurt other religions. I think you should at least respect other's beliefs even when you don't agree with them. No other group tolerates the hatred like Christians. They could never pick on race or weight or any other sensitive subject the way they do Christianity. It hurts me to my core.

Your statement was very true at one time......the blanket of protection from God was thick, it is getting thinner by the day now tho....... Yes people are talking more about God, but not all of them speaking are talking and praying in Godly ways........ God is disappearing, did you not notice ??? He is being left out of the daily American lives more and more each day......... and the blanket gets thinner and thinner...... go in peace........ God bless

I feel there is a spiritual blanket of protection over the US. As soon as it's lifted - - God help us! People are turning away from the reverence of the Lord and turning more toward "self" as was foretold in Revelation. No, I think quite opposite of you, my friend. I think it's only by that blanket that we have remained protected for so long a time. katiefish <><

I believe that people seem to be talking about God more because there is a lot more turmoil in their lives
eg: 1. Natural Disasters
2. Family Problems
3. illnesses
4. Environmental concerns
5. Social concerns etc.

Maybe the Holy Spirit is working on these people because God is coming back very soon and all these things are signs of the end of time. (Matt 24)

I hope this answers your question :)
