The Flying Car?

This is the dream of many on earth. It is the dream spoken of in fables and myths. It is the dream shown only in the movies.

Will it be really possible for us to build a flying car? A flying car like the one seen in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?

Not sure we will see this anytime soon as there are a lot of considerations to think about.

Engineering wise, I think we could figure build a flying car. The problem will be making one that's affordable and marketable.

I think the other considerations are, what will normal people have to do to be able to fly one of these? How automated do these need to be before we let normal people start buying them. Think of how many car crashes there are, now think of what it would be like if just half of the people out there flew a helicopter to work every morning?

It could be possible, like a Harrier jump jet that uses vertical take off. But it depends on the size and shape of the car, and how big the wings need to be. Maybe if the wings could have a variable position, and be set vertically for parking the car, and horizontally for flight.

Please make sure that if one is invented - it will be AFTER my wife has lost her driving licence!

It's hard enough for her to drive our poor old car out the garage!
We are the only people in our street with matching scuff marks down both front wings - and I've given up replacing the rear lights - we only go out at daytime now!

If she was driving a flying car up there somewhere our town would have to sound the air raid sirens.
