no, it's not like an idea that someone just thought up recently, just like christianity wasn't the first theistic religion, the concept of a god (and a no-god) has probably around ever since people started thinking about the origin of the world. atheism has only really gained lots of followers recently now that it has scientific theories to back it up.

Well, it is old news in that there have always been unbelievers and fringe groups that worshipped one thing or another but atheism today seems to have taken a foothold in our society. I'm astonished at how many are on this site, for example. But, the Bible says that in the latter days, there will be haters of the Bible, mockers and insulters. Also, that people will be proud of what they should be ashamed of. Sounds like now to me. I pray for them and continue to spread the good news of Jesus but I don't throw pearls to swine. Most suffer from pride and that is the worst sin in the Bible.

Personally my thoughts and perspectives, on a full blown atheism person is basically a brand new soul-spirit created by God.
These new spirits have not had the luxury yet to live many lives, that's the reason why they don't believe in any thing spiritual.
God creates new spirits all the time.
The souls of people are the thoughts of God,
God breathes into his thoughts and the soul is entwine with the spirit,
God sends these new spirits on their way to be redeem,
God appoints one or more spirit guides and guardian angels to each newly created spirit.
In time, as they live one and many more life's, they will build and store all new learning experiences information in their spirit for their future uses, and eventually eternity with God in heaven.

Atheism is not a religion, like a religion, or a way to "rebel" against society. It's just a personal belief that gods do not exist. There was the great philosopher Socrates (of ancient times) who was into knowledge and questioned the world around him. Believers killed him because they were afraid of his ideas, just like religious people today. Afraid to question.

Psalm 53:1 "...The fool says in his heart,'there is no God'..."
So yes, the foolishness of denying the most obvious fact in the universe (the existence of a creator) has been around for a while.
Now it is just a pseudo-intellectual fad to posture about how "I'm just to smart to believe in God! The bible is just faerie tales!"
When we were children we all thought we were smarter than our parents. Some of us grow up.

I don't know how long they been around I started hearing of them here lately. But i do know wheter you beleive or not don't mean you won't burn over and over again, why burn if you don't have to.Try Jesus you tried everything else life has to offer and some of it was bad for you.Even if it is just a belief it's a belief that works if you trust while you are believing. The only reason we shove it down your throats is because we love you I personally don't think nobody deserves to burn like that.Turn to TBN there is some true stories there about people who turned their lives around because of an experience that they had with HELL and GOD sent them back to witness.
