Being activated for 8 months on Mobilization orders in support of Iraqi Freedom Glabal war on terrorism (Naco-terrorism) to South America. I have deployed but only on active duty never in the IRR. Do I rate the Armed Forces Service Medal with the M device for being activated? Star on Nat defense medal? Star on over seas ? Anything else? Can I get a star on my Combat action ribbon if engaged? Or do I only rate one award per conflict? I volunteered to go cause I beleive in the fight on terrorism. The reasons why i ask about the awards is because I have to change them all over again if Im gonna be rating more. I mightest well buy them here and have them ready in case I have to put on my service uniforms. From my understanding there is not a large selection where I will be. Thanks.

You will rate some new ribbons and awards. AFRM with M device. No star on defense medal. Possible star on CAR. Star on GWOT Ex. Go for some personal awards. Good Luck.

I only looked at the National Defense Medal. You would not get a star on it unless you had served active during Gulf 1 as well. Go to the DOD link and click on each medal. The criteria for award is listed for all, including subsequent award criteria.

Good luck!

outstanding as your activated you will no longer value something new, so which you will use a similar ribbon bar/s which you had once you dropped to the IRR. numerous of the awards you suggested have a definite volume of time that has to spent on energetic accountability to cost. on the tip of your 8 months you will get a sparkling DD-214 which will record all the awards which you value and any contraptions that flow alongside with it. in the journey that your fairly worried approximately it nonetheless, i'm beneficial you could touch your admin workplace and that they are going to be waiting to respond to any of your different questions. reliable success down South.

The best way to handle this is ask the S1 of the unit you're attached to.

And I also wouldn't worry about it as you won't be wearing your dress uniform while you're there.

What you do defines you..... not your ribbons. Deployed so what is the need for them? None.

When you get home worry about that.

You would be part of the unit you deploy with. Their S1 will handle it.
