In the NSW Crimes Act 1900 it is with some interest that I read...

"No person shall be liable to prosecution in respect of any publication by him or her orally, or otherwise, of words or matter charged as blasphemous, where the same is by way of argument, or statement, and not for the purpose of scoffing or reviling, nor of violating public decency, nor in any manner tending to a breach of the peace."

Not in the USA. Everyones faith is fair game. Be careful of where you travel in the mideast countries, though.

In the United States of America it is a right and privilege to blaspheme. We can say that Jesus is gay or Moses was retarded or that Mohamed drove a Yugo with pink pin stripes and green tires.
We can also say that our president sucks and that a chimp and two turkeys couldn't have done as much harm as George the II.
That NSW Crimes Act sounds familiar but not as clearly written as our Constitution. I think we have broader freedoms of speech.

Of all the strange “crimes that human beings have legislated out of nothing, “blasphemy” is the most amazing--with “obscenity” and “indecent exposure” fighting it out for second and third place.
