I guess it all comes down to geography and what the acceptable "norm" is at your church. Ours is pretty laid back - we don't have the suit/offering envelope, but it's not a bad thing if someone wears one. Our guys tend to shave and their hair is a little more kempt than the guy on YouTube. But still it's not a big deal if someone comes in wearing what he was wearing. We see everything from shorts to ties, flip flops to dress shoes. We have people with garlic breath, and some whom stop by Starbucks every morning. We are what we are and the Lord wants us anyway. Our intentions are in our hearts not in what we wear on our backs. Further, who we are in Christ is no one else's business but our own. It's a personal relationship. Not an outward boast. People can tell if you walk with the Lord by the fruit you bear. And your fruit can be seen through the thinnest silk shirt or through your morning bathrobe simply by how you live your life and how you treat others. Like I said, God made us for who we are - not for the clothes we wear. Hope that helps - katiefish <><

I try to follow the teachings for the church beginning in Acts. Since Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are just to lead up to the church age or the Christian age, they did not contain one Christian. I study and believe the New Testament teachings that are for me today. I believe the Old Testament because it was true for it's time. Jesus was born and died a Jew. The Jewish practices He did were for another time.
I do not follow religion and do not follow the Jewish practices that Jesus followed. So I say NEITHER.

I follow Christ - the one who hung out with regular people. I don't follow a Pharisee - the ones Jesus didn't care for. The video gave a good idea of how it is with "church goers" and Christians. Real Christians know they don't have to impress anyone with their outward show of righteousness. As Jesus said, it's like a cup clean on the outside but filthy on the inside.

I am a follower of Christ. Those who follow Him, do so in Spirit and Truth. The religious leaders of the day did not seem to get the message of Christ. I respect all scripture, but pay particular attention to what Jesus said, especially that we fulfill the law if we love God with all of our strength, and love our neighbors as ourselves. What's up, Neighbor?

I am a follower of Christ. That means I am a Christian. A religion is a set of common beliefs and practices held by a group of people. "Religion" is a loose, umbrella word.

I follow Christ. He obviously did not judge people by their looks but by their love for Him and their faith in Him.
The bible speaks of entertaining angels unaware. They could be homeless and ragged.
I see nothing wrong with dressing up for church services if you feel you are doing so in respect to the Lord and not trying to impress people.
I'm glad that my church has no dress code. You will see jeans and boots to women in hats. We are there for the purpose of worshiping.

I follow The Word (Jesus). Therefore if any religion goes against that which the Bible teaches, I avoid it. Therefore I am currently 'sans religion' for I can't seem to find one that doesn't glorify war for example.

Did Jesus fulfill the law? did Jesus say that man was not made for the Sabbath but the Sabbath for man? Before you can follow Jesus you should really get to know him.
