yeah, you probably should get an x-ray. Could be dislocated...there are joints where all the ribs connect, or could be broken. Definitely wouldn't let this go. Your rib cage expands every time you take a breath, and if its painful, there is definitely something wrong. Go to the ER or Urgent Care Facility nearest you. Just some friendly advice from a 10-yr medic....

My son has had costochondritis. It was a pain felt in the place where your ribs meet your sternum. It is actually a swelling of the joints where your ribs join onto your sternum, It can be caused from injury or other things. It can last up to a couple of months. The doc recommended anti-inflamitory gel. I would get checked by your GP anyway.

hmmmm I'm not sure if this is a worker's comp injury. If it is, you ought to go to the ER because I know for sure all of them file to that for you. Broken ribs can cause punctured lungs so you ought to get checked out. I know you'll probably feel silly, but you need to report this incident. you don't have to turn blue and code just from a broken rib, in fact, the symptoms you're describing sound a lot like rib fracture. ribs are "ring structures" they usually break in multiple places.
