i just got them this weekend an they are just wonderful. I was told today by a friend that they have to be on a special diet because they stink like ferrets. I have not noticed an odor from them at all, it this true?

We had two teacup size poodles that lived close to 20 years. The dogs were not related. Many people have the wrong view of poodles. They are not this hypo little dog as they are pictured. We never had a problem of diet. Never put them on special food. We did have problem with teeth, dirty ears, and latter in their life back problems when people pick them up wrong.

Need to brush them to get out the knotted, but this is not much work. The poodle coat is great.

With any new dog, it should be looked at by your vet in the first 24 hours. If there is something major, you can make a decision of returning it. It is also a time where you and your vet can get on the same page with vaccinations and diet. What to feed them, how often, and how much are all good questions you vet can answer.

Brushing a dog will take care of more stink than you think. If they do have a smell, make sure you don't over bath them. It's bad for their skin to be bathed more frequently than once every 2 weeks or so. There are also shampoos for smelly dogs. I've never noticed the poodles I've been around being extra smelly, but the quickest way to find out is to call your local vet. They could tell you quickly, but I would say someone told you a fib.

you are able to clip nails your self yet word that if the nails are black you wont see the fast (the blood vessel interior the nail) and in case you chop back it, it is going to bleed like loopy. superb get a vet or groomer to do it for you. As for the grooming, keep him brushed and tangle unfastened for a pair of weeks so he can take time to get settled in then ring a groomer. a youthful poodle might have a mushy fluffy coat. its no longer until they grow previous does the coarse curly coat are available. you will must be brushing him another day until you get the domestic dog cut back on the groomers it fairly is plenty much less stressful to maintain. don't get the tutor cut back in case you do no longer make plans to tutor as this is extremely stressful to maintain.
