The one I know that can reduce or eliminate the pain is Clove Oil. But I don't recommend it since while you will forget about the pain, then it will make the matter worse without realizing it (because you don't feel the pain anymore). It should be for temporary use only, but when I used it before, I tend to forget about the abscess. The most effective for me is gargle often with Listerine, and gargle with warm water + salt. I am quite stubborn not to go to dentist, I admit.

An abscess is the draining of an infection. Either the nerve is infected or you have a periodontal abscess due to bone loss. The only thing to effectively treat either is to see your dentist. You may need an antibiotic, and a root canal, extraction or perio treatment to resolve it.

THE CARRIER OF THE ESSENTIAL OIL IS VERY STRONG TO USE. IT'S FABULOUS FOR SCRAPES, ABRASIONS AND CUTS OF THE SKIN. I WOULDN'T USE IT IN THE MOUTH.
