I have about 5 canker sores INSIDE my mouth, but now there is another blister growing on the outside of my lips... is it a cold sore? because i was told that canker sores only happen on the inside of your mouth, so im really confused. thanks for your help.

Absolutely -- they're two totally different things. Cold sores are a form of the herpes sipmlex virus which causes sores outside the mouth, often at the creases or edges of the lips. The sores can be red, and extremely painful. They can be treated with an OTC medication called Abreva, or with pills from your doctor like Valcyclovir.

The cause for canker sores isn't fully understood -- and it's debated in the medical community. Some scientists believe they're a result of immune disregulation -- where the immune system attacks parts of the body it shouldn't be attacking, others think it's a result in changes in acidity levels, stress, or anxiety . . . they can be a sign of an oncoming cold -- or a number of other things. They are usually pitted white sores, always inside the mouth -- and can be unbelievably painful.

I've found that peroxide, salt-water, and orajel help greatfully (the orajel numbs the area so it doesn't hurt -- so my body doesn't realize it's inflamed or irritated as much -- so in turn, it heals more rapidly).

Cold sores and canker sores also called aphthous ulcers (aphthae), are different. Canker sores differ from cold sores in that they occur on the internal soft tissues of your mouth and aren't contagious. Conversely, cold sores almost always start out on the lips and don't often spread to the soft tissues of your mouth. In addition, cold sores are caused by a form of the herpes simplex virus (HSV1), making them extremely contagious. Possible Complications of cold sores: Spread of herpes to other skin areas Secondary bacterial skin infections Recurrence of herpes labialis Generalized infection -- may be life-threatening in immunosuppressed people, including those with atopic dermatitis, cancer, or HIV infections Blindness Antibiotic treatment for canker sores may lead to oral thrush (a type of mouth infection) or other Candida infections. Rarely, bacterial infections such as cellulitis and Ludwig's angina may occur. Mouth cancer is not a complication of canker sores, but if an ulcer lasts more that 2 weeks, you should see your doctor to rule out possible cancer. I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/herpesCure2015ML0o

Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

hubby's had canker sores and herpes simplex blisters together for years. They're brought on by stress. They genuinely do suck and you feel like crap until they heal.
That all stopped for him when he retired from a very stressful career.

What he's always gotten relief with:

"Novitra" maximum cold sore cream for the outside blisters AND
"Ora film" fast dissolving oral pain relieving strips for the canker sores on the inside

Canker sores are not caused by a herpes virus. Cold sores are caused by a herpes virus. Usually it's not the same herpes virus as with genital herpes, but it can be. It can be spread from mouth to genitals and vice versa. People who get cold sores are usually only contagious when they have a sore, but people with genital herpes are at risk of spreading the virus even when they don't have an outbreak.
