Have many famailies suffered enough by losing their loved ones because of this war in Iraq, 3820 troops have died. And sadly there'll be more deaths. But the real question is,..is it worth for what they're fighting ....what are they fighting for?

Man, where to begin ? if you dont know why, its hard to answer in short,, but in short, the middle east wants us dead, its just a matter of time cause there bible tells them to ... unlike the one i have where Jesus love me cause the bible tells me so. If we dont deal with it , it will only get worse for everyone, if not now, then when and do u want it on there terms. Staying united on certain things are very important for the stability of the middle east , but our parties are far from that and the democrates got so scared of never seeing office again they have undermined our own troops in the process, but go ahead, give me the thumbs down, but it wont change the fact that democrates divided the country over the need to be back in power,,,, things wont change, it will get worse, most have just refused to admit it...

Yep, when the job is done. You may not understand this.. WAR means that someone dies. Better the insurgents (You would call them Freedom Fighters) die there.

You may have picked up a history book so you might remember reading that once upon a time the MOORS (Moslems) invaded Spain (711 AD), sometimes the Moslem rulers were benevolent other times ruthless until the Caliphate was knocked down in 1013 AD. The moslems of that era were far less ruthless than what you would see spread out from the Fertile Crescent today.

Honey, If we lose be ready to BANG your head 5 times a day towards Mecca. Be ready to wear a Chadari. Be ready NOT to drive. Be ready to be told whom you can marry or even become a slave (Yes, slaves still exist in the Moslem world).

I lived in Saudi Arabia in the 70s, returned for Desert Shield/ Storm and was with the MAU at Beruit Airport in 1983 -- YOU don't want this to expand.

I know many Molsems, some are my friends but only a few have stood up and denounced these extremists; none publicly. They are just as afraid of these looney tunes as I am and you should be.

Since the invasion of Iraq, Muslim militants have bombed 28 churches and murdered hundreds of Christians. Last October, Islamists beheaded a priest in Mosul in revenge for the Pope’s remarks about Islam at Regensburg. But never let it be said that jihadis do not have a sense of ironic humour: that same month they crucified a 14-year-old Christian boy in Basra.

Pulling out without finishing the job will lead to FAR more bloodshed that will spread like a wildfire outside LA fanned by the Santa Ana winds.

You want to bring the troops home then do this:
1. Stop driving your car completely. Walk or ride a bike.
2. Stop using heat, air conditioning, and electricity.
3. Make all of your own clothing or buy it from a local fabric maker.
4. Get all your food from local farmer's market or meat market. Do not use a car to transport the food.
5. And most importantly refuse to buy any vehicle until the company offers a car that does not use gasoline.

This sounds extreme and it is. From the cars we buy, to the products that had to be shipped to our state, from the technology we use and depend on, to the companies that provide for our basic needs; America is incredibly dependent on oil. It is not a luxury it is a necessity. It is one that has reared its ugly head and now made use pay for our dependence of it with our blood instead of our money. Many people like to blame the president for getting us into this war, and that is fine. He is our president and our leader. But if we want to see where this whole thing starts all we have to do is look in the mirror. The oil and car companies have never thought past the next dollar they could earn and what is worse the Western population has let them. We have been raped by these companies and as soon as they were done the only thing we said was "Thank You Sir, May I Have Another."
Should we get out of Iraq. Absolutely, as soon as we have enough oil to last through the "energy revolution" that is needs to take place. If we don't then the only thing we are doing is setting our selves up to be the next has-been nation, and all of those 3820 death will truly have been in vain.
Is oil the only thing that we are fighting for, no of course not. We are fight terrorist, fight to free Iraq's, and fighting for an independent nation. But taking away our dependency on oil, will only be a good thing for out nation AFTER it is all said and done.

tough question. simply and brutally put, our troops should stay in Iraq "for the greater good". I know i sound like a hypocritical dove-tailed hawk who knows nothing of real combat, and you'd probably be right about the combat part, but one of my grandfathers was a Navy test/fighter pilot, the other a ROK Korean guerilla fighter during the Korean War, and my dad was a Navy aviation navigator, so i may know a little something.

i dont like the situation any better than you do, and I've written a number of times that Iraq was a lose-lose situation; we'll lose if we pull out and lose if we dont. but there is a less-loss possibility. if we stay, we may eventually salvage some good out of ousting a sadistic dictator, establishing another friendly nation in the volatile Mid East, gaining a new source of friendly oil, and creating another democracy success story (though with a rocky start). but if we leave, then we get Vietnam all over again, with continued bloodshed and infighting joined by Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations, and possibly Iran. If we pull out now, we guarantee the failure of American foreign policy for another half a century. If we stay, then our fortitude and determination just may bring us victory, with the added assurance that such a fiasco, with experience gained from Iraq, should never happen again. of course death is never worth it. but sometimes it's not whether it is wanted or worth it; it is whether it is necessary.

and i guarantee you i'll be getting hundreds of thumbs-down for saying such things, and i'll be called a warmonger and other such things, and i know i know nothing of combat, but i stand by what i say. and if necessary, I'm ready to go to Iraq if I'm truly needed. assuming the war lasts that long (hopefully it wont). and i never supported going in.

that said, SUPPORT AMERICAN TROOPS, and I do hope as many as possible make it home alive and healthy.

Loss of our soldiers lives are always tragic. Unfortunately, war seems to be the way mankind has resolved their differences since the beginning of time. It is unlikely this will ever change.
If you put this war into perspective, the loss of almost 4000 Americans is a fairly small number when you compare it with past conflicts. I just think the American public (mostly Liberals) have no tolerance for any casualties. I'd hate to see how WW II would have turned out had there been they kind of media coverage we have now and the mentality of a large (or at least vocal) segment of the population.

I am really tired of people who think our troops should come home. I have served my time in the military. Do you know how many people have died for YOU? Freedom isn't free, but it seems you have forgotten that. Why think of yourselves and all that money you have the freedom to make while others suffer and die while you sit there enjoying your life. What about those people those soldiers protect with their lives? What choices do they have? Probably not like yours with the comforts of home. No they have to worry about living another day. I think it is a great honor to serve my country. Why don't you serve yours instead of bashing the soldiers and their families? Besides the amount of troops that have died is nothing compared to the amount of troops that have died in previous wars and engagements and you don't care about that because that is how our country came to be and the reason you are here.

We are stretched so thin its amazing. Our military is just great, I am in the Marines but let me tell you, we cant keep this crap up for another 6 years, not while we are still in 30+ nations. If you want national security from terrorists here is what you do.........You expand the size of the DIA and the border patrol, you build that fence along the mexican border and keep them from walking in without even being seen. In doing so you will also stem illegal immigration (which illegals kill more Americans every year than soldiers die in Iraq wont see that on CNN), and you will certainly cut off a major vein for the drug cartels to operate.

Blackwater employees make about 800-1500 dollars a day to do the same crap as a soldier making about $80.00 per day. I say if you want your endless war, let the civilians go over there and die, make them fight for their own damn freedom.

nothing anymore sadly. the military is on crutches holding up the entire government of iraq and trying to keep everyone from shooting eachother we should have gone in with 3 times as many troops and there would have been fewer deaths on both sides and we would be out of there by now

if I was asked this question 2 months ago, I'd say BRING THEM HOME and DON'T send any more!! But my husband is now deployed to Iraq, and is training men to keep their own country safe and secure. I didn't want him to go, but now that he's there doing what he's doing I think we should "shift" the focus and be part of the solution NOT the problem. CREATE a sense of peace, not fear. I don't even know what they're fighting for. Besides, if they were to ALL come home at once it would be horrible for the ecomomy. ZIt's going to cost this country about a billion and a half dollars to bring JUST the guys home...and billionS more to either get our equipment home or destroy it.

You fail to understand the enemies mindset. It's a nice sentiment to say bring them home and I'd like to say that as well. Making a hasty pullout would only encourage another, worse 9/11 that would pale in comparison.

If we pull out, we risk Iraq's government being taken over by terrorists who will then have access to BILLIONS in oil revenue to build or purchase any weapon they want. How would you like Osama bin Laden or radical fundamentalists to have nerve gas, blood agents, blister agents or even nukes from the corrupt remains of the USSR. Know what kind of a death you have from any of those chemicals? Nerve agents effect the nervous system, you die from convulsions. Blood agents take the oxygen out of your blood and no matter how much you breathe, you still suffocate to death. A pinpoint drop of blister agent can form a blister the size of a half dollar. If inhaled, your lungs blister up and you literally drown on your own fluids if you don't choke to death first. You already know you vaporize when nukes hit within range of you or you die from radiation poisoning but no one talks about the others and they can be mixed together and there's MORE.

Our losses, as bad as they've been are not nearly as severe as just one campaign or one landing during WWII. We lost more than 16,000 (KIA) just during the Battle of the Bulge and more than 5,000 (Killed and wounded) during the landing at Midway.

Yes, it would be nice to bring the troops home. My son is in Ramadi right now and I'd like him home but the job isn't done and the ramifications of a hasty pullout scares hell out of me.
