Brush, floss, gargle with Listerine, gargle with warm water + salt, take Tylenol. Put a little Hydrogen Peroxide on the tip of Q-tip or on a cotton, put it on the abscess.
I am not an expert but I have the same problem 2 months ago and this is exactly what I was doing. I am stubborn not to go to dentist, I admit. Not a good example. But in the meantime, you can try those things.

Happened to me too. It took about 2 days for the antibiotics to kick in. Looks like you already have some good advice from others, however I just wanted to let you know my experience as well. One more thing helped me when I woke up one night in the middle of the night with excruiating pain on another occasion. There were no pharmacies open and it was 3 am on a Saturday night where I lived. I had no pain killers. I didn't know what on earth to do. The pain was so bad, I was crying and pretty near screaming. I was in a panic. Then I went to my kitchen and looked to see if there was something... anything ... I could put on my gums below the tooth. I instintively thought... garlic! So I cut a garlic bulb in a slice, and placed the slice (wet side) on the gum below the tooth. It burned at first but hurt and felt good at the same time. In 3 minutes... the pain was almost gone. Unbelievable. So anyhow... you might want to give this a try. It was an absolute life saver. I kept it on for about 5-10 minutes, and would re-apply as I felt the pain coming back. .

If more people realized how bad your health can be affected by their teeth they would do everything in their power to take care of them. It can lead to heart problems...why would you let yourself go on with a health condition like this that obviously need medical attention ASAP. That poison in the abscess is now going through your body, poisoning it too. That why you need antibiotics. They will help lessen the pain in just a few short days. A dental antibiotic that is prescribed alot is Amoxicillin, it works great dude. Take care of it before you loose the tooth and the bone surrounding it

Antibiotics. If you have some around, try them, or call your dentist now and ask him to call in a prescription at a 24-hour pharmacy.

Advil 800mg (4 tablets).

Dental pain is the pits, I know. See your dr ASAP.
