Today I was talking to my son and I noticed that his pupils were reddish black...like a reflection of red. I'm not sure exactly how to explain it. I'm just curious if this is normal or if I need to talk to the doctor.

I may be over reacting, I've just never noticed it on anyone else, but it may have just been the way the light was reflecting...
Thanks

Cats have a reflective surface in their eyes that humans don't have. That is why they shine when headlights hit them.

The back of the eye is actually red but we don't normally see it unless a photograph taken with a flash shows it. I wouldn't really worry about it. Perhaps there was a light that made it possible for his eyes to look like that or maybe the angle you were looking at him showed it.

I am willing to guess it was just reflection. Think about where he was standing and how the light was hitting him and what it could of been reflecting. If he is due for an eye exam go ahead and take him in. Bright Blessings to you and yours!!
