Phillippians, or 1 Peter are good. They are both short and very encouraging.

I would also recommend reading out of John, especially if you want to feel loved. (If you only want one chapter, I like ch. 14...but 15's also pretty great too)

As for the Psalms, I'm personally a sucker for 51. It's painful and it tears the heart, but it's awesome what God can do with that if you open up and let Him. It gets me all of the time, For that you have to be willng to cry, but God is faithful to turn those tears to joy.

Hope that helps some.
Many blessings and goodnight.

My favorite Psalm is 73.

A good Psalm to read before going to bed is Psalm 134.

Psalm 134

Greetings of Night Watchers.

A Song of Ascents.

Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.

2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.

3 The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.

I keep a copy of Psalm 37 handy, especially verses 3 through 10. It helps me put up with people and remember to do good. I read this morning, noon and night.

Psalm 110, 111, 112, 113, 114

As you read these think of a very large choir singing them -men, then women, then children, then all, alternating back and forth. Echoing the bounty and love of God Almighty E'yah our Abba.

I like Matthew (I believe it's Matthew Ch. 5 that has my favorite verse about not worrying about tomorrow b/c tomorrow has enough worries of its own.), Pslams, Proverbs and Song of Songs 1. Song of Songs is Solomon's love song and what I read a bit at a time in the summer.

'Hope this helps!!

Psalms 5

1Give ear to my words, O Lord,
consider my sighing.

2Listen to my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.

3In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation.

4You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil;
with you the wicked cannot dwell.

5The arrogant cannot stand in your presence;
you hate all who do wrong.

6You destroy those who tell lies;
bloodthirsty and deceitful men
the Lord abhors.

7But I, by your great mercy,
will come into your house;
in reverence will I bow down
toward your holy temple.

8Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness
because of my enemies—
make straight your way before me.

9Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their heart is filled with destruction.
Their throat is an open grave;
with their tongue they speak deceit.

10Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,
for they have rebelled against you.

11But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

12For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Boy, if you're trying to fall asleep, Leviticus will work faster than a belt of whiskey. It is so boring...

Oh wait, that wasn't what you meant, was it?
