Try spreading citrus peels in the garden; cats don't like citruse, but I wonder about the effects of increasing the acidity of the soil on your plants. Dog poo might work, too, but its a stinky option. If you look on eBay, there are motion-detecting sprinklers that some people use with success, but they can be pricey. Good luck! I keep all my cats indoors, so I know they're not to blame. ;-)

Rocks. Large, flat rocks. Leave a little room in between for water to get through, but not enough room for cats to dig. It's not the soil or the plants the cats like, its the ability to dig. And flat rocks won't ruin the look or smell of your flower garden. They might improve the appearance.

You could try putting wire around the flower bed, but there really is no other way to keep them out unless you could move the flowers inside.

Sometimes moth balls sprinkled around the area helps. A friend swears by lemons cut up and placed around the area also.

I love cats, but I HATE finding a huge crap in my mulch!!!!

I am going to look for the motion detecting sprinklers!!!!!! That sounds great!!!! I hope I can see it in action!!!!

Moth balls are very toxic to animals (people too). Please don't use them. Try the citrus peels. If you can catch the cats in that area a good squirt with a garden hose will most likely keep them away.
