Any dog will fight, it is in the nature of dogs ( same with people)
How they are raised makes all the difference.
Not so long ago it was the Alsatians that people were afraid of - this is just the latest fashion fad.
Good dogs need good homes. Bad owners create bad dogs.

I do not get the least bit nervous when I see a family pit bull sitting next to an infant. I have an American Pit Bull Terrier, so I know their personality. They are naturally loving with people, especially their family. Some Pit Bulls do tend to be dog aggressive because of their dog fighting history. So a Pit Bull should not be left unsupervised around another dog. But through selective breeding and proper training and socialization this can be greatly reduced or even eliminated. But Pit Bulls were always bred to be friendly towards humans. It all comes down to how the owner treats and raises the dogs. If Pit Bulls were naturally vicious monsters there really wouldn't be SO many people who love and stick up for the breed.

It's never the dog's fault. When a person trains a dog to do thing, of course they'll do it. When people started training Pitt's to be fighting dogs, they did it so much that it became a part of the dog, and if the dog was put to have puppies, the trait of fighting probably passes on to it's offspring. So, since it's been going on for so long that it's like it's bred into some of them. They are VERY nice dogs, I've never met a Pitt bull that's attacked someone, I live in a "ghetto" area that has fought dogs before, but I've never seen one attack a human. It's always the owner's fault of how a dog grows up to be. If the owner trains a dog to sit, he will always know how to sit. If an owner never pays attention to a dog, it will depend on itself and have no clue how to really act on another human.

OWNERS FAULT i think they are lovely dogs if treated right
i once read a story about a dog that ripped a girls face of, the dog was put down.
they then checked the dog only to find a pencil have been shoved down the dogs ear into its brain. you cant blame the dog from reacting that must of hurt.
watching the video i had a tear for those poor dogs
there is no such thing as a dangerous dog its how you teach/train them
i dont think you should be allowed to get any animal if you cant look after them right
i would have a pit bull if they was not banned from the uk

"The Nanny Dog"? How could anyone be upset seeing them with children. When my daughter brought over my one month old grandson for the first time and sat him on the floor in his carrier my three year old Pit went over to check him out. She then laid down next to him and stayed there for the next hour. She did not leave his side. Now a year later when they come over my grandson plays with the dog, pulling her ears and such and she just loves him.
She loves everyone that comes to the house. She does not know what stranger means. Everyone is her friend.
She grew up with my older dogs, a Chi/Rat Terrier and a Beagle so they get along great. But being a dog aggressive breed when we got a new Pit puppy a few months ago she would growl and snap at the puppy. It took all of a few hours to teach her that was wrong. She and the pup are the best of friends now and play all the time, a 55 lb and a 25 lb pup, pretty funny. So I have four dogs running through the house barking and playing dogie games.

I think its the same as it is for we humans. If we are treated disrepectively, abused, we will follow the same path. Dogs that are abused have a higher case of hurting someone. But you have to admit, it was probably self defense in the dogs eyes.
I used to be against Pitbulls too, until I learned more about them. Pitbulls are just dogs, treat any dog/pet/animal well + they will behave good too. Our pets/children reflect how we are as an owner/parent.
The pic of P.bull + infant baby. I noticed the dog had its belly exposed. This isn't aggressive behavior. : ) I would be a tad nervous if it wasn't my dog, but newborns should be slowly introduced to any pet you have.
I think the gov't/authorites should treat the problem (the abusers) + not punish the dog.
Not just pitbulls are used for fighting. Check out this list + see all of other breeds !!

K-9's of any breed will fight. Just a fact. I own a APBT and he is my service dog, he is out in public almost everyday. Never had a cross bark at human or animal. A well bred dog of any breed as long as it is well trained and not abused is going to be a good dog. I'm never nervous when my Batman is sitting by my grand niece. Yet I would not allow her around my Niece's lab, which attacked her son seemingly without cause. Do you feel nervous when you see a pom sitting by a baby, one killed a 6 week old baby. As for the news reports, there are 23 breeds commonly missed ID ed as pit bulls. I can give you a web site to go toto see if you can tell a APBT from other breeds. Want to try.

I never believe anything I read or see I go on actual experience. We have several Pit Bulls in our family and including our friends there are a total of 31 Pit Bulls I know and NOT ONE of the dogs is aggressive AT ALL. They all vary in ages and are all from different breeding. I have been around dogs all my life of all different breeds and the Pit Bulls were NEVER the aggressive ones. My Labs can be more aggressive than our family Pit Bull. Most all of the Pit Bulls I know ADORE kids and love dogs. Our family Pit Bull actually protects my Labs. I truly believe that a dog and a dog of any breed is only as good as its owner and that is the bottom line. I will never be so close minded or ignorant to believe what I see or read I need to know for myself and from exeperience Pit Bulls can be one of the sweetest most devoted dogs you will ever meet.

A human can know the 'personality' of a dog a lot more surely than he can know the personality of another human. Dogs are much less complex than us. If you know your pit is harmless then why worry, if on the other hand you train your pit to kill pits then you should be a little worried letting them play with a toddler. I dont have a pit but i am looking for the perfect sized one in shelters. My neighbor has two male pits and they are the most powerful animals i have seen (pound for pound). He straps both pits to his f-150 and they pull the truck at about 3-5 MPH. Even with this much power, they are the most gentle and approachable dogs i have met. They would like nothing less than to fetch a ball for you. People who are "brainwashed" by today's media truly sicken me. How naive can one be to believe what you hear on TV without any further research?!

Great video!
No it does not make me nervous to see a family dog with it's family .Pit Bull or otherwise. While I do admit I think all dogs should be supervised with children. (Children like to play rough pulling tails and what not.).
Owners are the ones in control, Pit Bulls love to please their owners so they will do just that. You make them a part of your family train and socialize them (take good care of them) You will have a wonderful loving pet.
Fighting is wrong period. Not taking the time to research about the dog you are getting so you can handle the dog should be a crime.
