It depends on the child. My daughter was a full 18 months younger than my son. She was early with speech and training and he is slow with speech and normal with training.

Go to ivillage.com and look up developmental milestones for the age of your child.

Chances are they are within the normal range.

Potty training is a tough ordeal. When I was little, I was potty trained at 18 months and I guess that's really early. (some would call me a genius...haha jk) but a lady I work with..her daughter is 3 1/2 and still in diapers. She REFUSES to use the potty. I think it depends on your child! Same goes with saying words...I think it start at about 7 months (I just looked in my WHAT TO EXPECT THE FIRST YEAR book) haha

All children develop differently. My first ws not potty trained until he was 3 1/2 , but defined "covert" for me at the age of 2.

If you are worried there are developmental "land marks" that children should hit. These include coordination, and problem solving. But there is no set formula or age that each child should be potty trained or speaking by.

My granddaughter is 18 months, she is shy with her speech but she says quite a few words (not grandma yet, darn). She's quite a singer though. She doesn't care if she is wet or poopi so I don't see potty training anytime soon, but since she stays here 2 days a week I have a potty ready for her.
Every child is different.

As for the hi, bye part my son is 15 months and is saying those words. He started saying them last month and now they are clear to understand. As for the potty trained I can't give you any advice on that one other then I hear boys are slower to get trained then girls.
