I wanted some percentages to make a comparison. What percentage of Islamic followers is wealthy and what percentage of those that become martyrs are wealthy. I want to know a little about the demographic aspect of the phenominon.

To borrow from The West Wing, terrorists are to Islam as the Ku Klux Klan is to Christianity. You will probably find that the people who do the dirty work in any extreme organisation are the foot soldiers while the rich just get richer.

A majority of them come from middle-class or well-off families and are college educated.
They don't blow themselves up because they're desperate or think they have nothing to live for -- they do it because they genuinely believe they are doing their God's will.
