I might incorporate some Kenpo (Ed Parker influenced) into my training pretty soon. But I want to know your opinion on Kenpo.

I hear good and bad things about it. Please EXPLAIN why you like it OR don't like it.

What say you?

I am a Godan in Parker System and as good as it is the style does not make it the best, the person doing it does. I also am a Sandan in Shotokan and the strikes are just as strong.

So it is the user not the style really.

Bad things about Ed Parkers Kenpo?

Whoever said that doesn't really learn martial arts. Maybe they learn the movements of martial arts with a teacher, but the teacher himself does not have a true understanding of MA.

I am a traditionalist. I only study martial arts that have lineage. They are not hard to find as most people here would love to say in complete ignorance.

I do not study EP's Kenpo. Nor do I know anyone who is a long term practitioner of EP Kenpo.

If I had the time, I would definitely study under any of the Senior Students of EP.

You cannot use one thing for striking and another thing for kicking. This is shallow thinking. Anyone who suggests you study that way has no true understanding of MA.

EP Kenpo is awesome.

Kenpo is a very good striking style. there are also many styles of kenpo besides Ed Parker's . Parker's kenpo has good combinations.

Other kenpo styles you could look into.
