Life is probably harder for us atheists because we must discipline ourselves to facing reality as it is. The believer has it easier: believe in a fanciful story, which may provide contentment or peace of mind. But I pity the believers because they maintain, or try to maintain, their fables in the face of contrary evidence every day. I'd rather live life straight up without the complexifying diversions. Life is complicated enough as it is.

Life is better with religion.

In Noah's day when people did what was right in their own ways there the standards were lowered and lowered and lowered. As the old saying goes "one bad apple can spoil a whole barrel". The wicked people of earth became so lowered in their standards that even the little children were taught at an earlier and earlier age to do violence, kill, steal, lie, covet, etc. It was a lawless time in man's history.

When Noah and his family started life anew; God created foreign languages. And the tenet that was carried in each new tribe was the awareness that man is accountable to a higher power. That he cannot get away with doing is own thing. This is true in tribes all over the world today. This is also why laws exist in tribes that do not have contact with civilization and have lasted thousands of years.

In most socially, economic, and industrious societies today most are religious. Even so called non industrialized countries are permeated with a religious influence.

Countries that have no religious affiliation like Russia and China still allow an orthodoxy of religion to exist. Even if the government controls it there is a need for man to have a belief system.

Most countries are better for it. It affords a people of any country to appreciate life, and all that surrounds them. And to respect it. And to work with it in order that the present generation to come will survive and prosper and protect all that they has been passed down to them from those who came before them..

I'm not a believer because my life is better or easier or more complete. I deal with the reality of my conviction that there IS a God, and He is very real to me. This is not a question of quality of life.

Sometimes it would have been a lot easier, as i look back over my life, if I did not believe in Him. Sometimes it would have been a lot harder.

You have asked a short question, but a short answer cannot be given. The question engenders a lot of serious contemplation about the purpose of our lives--and everyone sees that differently. Believers see the purpose of their own lives in a way that is sometimes very different from the way that other believers see theirs. For example, some believers want to be evangelical. Others, like myself, give a lot of thought to what God calls us to do. For my part, God has commanded me to look after my family and my loved ones, to be a good person, and to try to accomplish some good for other people during my daily routine. Whether I am any good at it is another matter--but I am too busy trying to have time to try to convert anyone.

I expect that atheists have the same differences amongst themselves, but I do not know that as a certainty.

I think it depends on how you feel about living and dying. I tend to think a life without God is meaningless. It's like the flower comes up for a short time and then it withers away. I believe that deep down in everyone of us, we desire for something more. That desire is placed in us because God put it in there for us to seek Him and to be with Him eternally. As a Christian, life may not be easier but it is better and complete because we all have a spiritual void inside that only God can fill.

I am a Christian and have been since I was a child.

Why is my life better? Knowing I have God on my side is so incredible. I can conquer anything, go through anything, do anything with Him. I never feel alone. I never feel abandoned. I couldn't imagine not knowing Him. My life would be so empty and meaningless. It's really nice having a set or morals to live up to. I feel I am a better person because of them, but mostly because God sent His one and only Son to die for the sins I should be put to death for. How wonderful is that??!!

Agnostic.
It's not that life's easier, I just think religion is BS. I can't pretend to believe in something I know is false just so I can get along easier in life. No offense.

My path is the best path for me at the present moment. It allows me to gain teachings of value from other religions and philosophies and encourages me to question all the teachings of Buddha, rather than blindly follow a dogma. If I found a path more helpful or true, then I would follow that path. However, I would never say that my path is better or more complete than the path that another has chosen.

As a believer of the FSM, life is better because I can read the FSM bible everytime I eat the pizza, drink the soup and (the best part) add the tomato sauce :D.

(Just Joking)

Anyway, I am a atheist and a buddhist. I follow what is written in the buddhist scriptures. To gain knowledge and to decipher what is right or wrong. Follow your conscience and not to follow a religion or anyone just because they say they are right and they are the truth. Find out the truth for yourself.

religions have always been a historical cause of diversity.sumerians, egyptians, babylonians, greeks and finaly romans have created hundreds of -similar to the ethnic-gods to keep their empires united.i don't think this is necessary today and remember:like christians destroyed all the temples and paganism within 30 years the same can happen to christianity and all religions

I'm MUCH more aware of the *now*. I'm no longer wasting time being concerned with what's going to happen after I die. Not thinking that there's anything after this makes me much more passionate about each day that I have.
