I made homemade chili in my cast iron dutch-oven. Now, the food tastes like metal! I know I need to reseason the pot, but can my food be saved? Is it possible to get the metallic taste out of it?

You shouldn't cook things over a long period of time in cast iron. The acid on the food reacts with the pot.

I'm afraid your chili may be contaminated. Too much iron can be toxic.

You may need to start over. On the next batch DO NOT use the cast iron pan. Acidic food will damage your cast iron cookware. Your pan will defiantly need re-seasoned. Check out. www.whatscookingamerica.net It will not help your current dish, but great info about cast iron.

....start over - anything you try will ruin the chili's taste.
do you have a porcelain lined pot like a La Creuset ?
they withstand the acids that tomatoes present to regular cast iron.
