The Ford Quadricycle was the very first automobile that Henry Ford made. He drove it around Detroit for six months before selling it for $ 200. The Model T wasn't developed until 1902 or '03, although there are many more from the 1911 through 1927 in existence. In 1906 Henry conceived the notion of the assembly line and it was in operation around 1912(?); it made the mass production of automobiles that everyone could afford possible. The "T" was discontinued in 1927 and was replaced with the Model A (1928-1931), and then the Model B (1932).

I thought it was the Model-T also but the Model-T was the first mass prroduced car. Now if Ford made a car before the Model -T, I really don't know.
The following article3 clarified the issue, Model-T was the first.

Ford was launched in a converted factory in 1903 with $28,000 in cash from twelve investors, most notably John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge who would later found the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. During its early years, the company produced just a few Model T's a day at its factory on Mack Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Groups of two or three men worked on each car from components made to order by other companies. Henry Ford was 40 years old when he founded the Ford Motor Company, which would go on to become one of the largest and most profitable companies in the world, as well as being one of the few to survive the Great Depression. The largest family-controlled company in the world, the Ford Motor Company has been in continuous family control for over 100 years.

Ford built his first car in his garage in Detroit. He called it the 'Quadracycle'. When he finished it he found he couldn't get it out through the door so he had to take a sledge hammer and knock out a few bricks. That was in 1896. You can see a picture of it here:

After that Ford went into the car business several times, and each time he went bankrupt and sold his design to be manufactured by someone else. One very successful model (though not for Ford) was the 'Curved-Dash' Oldsmobile.

The Model T was not his first model but by far the most successful. It came out in 1908 and was made until 1927. Ford developed many techniques for mass production of automobiles including the 'assembly line' for the Model T.

I was just at the Ford Museum two weeks ago... I just remember seeing the Runabout and reading how it became a very popular car. But this car was mass produced, Ford's first car would definitely not be one of these.

I think Quadracycle is correct. There actually WAS a Model A before the Model T, then they came out with a new Model A after the Model T again.
