What basic political ethics a democracy should follow in citizen interest and public wellbeing?

There can be many but list below a few:

Political parties should be membership based and a person deciding to form a party and choose members and dictate them should not be allowed to do so.

Elected members are custodians of peoples rights so they should behave like that and monitor the bureaucracy and not to join them.

A politician elected should not support the bills which are against the interest of the people even if they are promoted by his own party. He should resign if he is forced to do so.

Should not Davide the nation on caste and religious lines for votes.

Should be honest and transparent in handling of public funds.

Opposition parties should not oppose the ruling party just for opposition sake but should support the bills which are in public interest.

They should not think they are above the law. They should respect the law and make bureaucrats to obey the law.

The basic political ethics to be followed in a democracy like India is that politicians should be made to realise that they are accountable to the electorate and should not consider the country as their personal fiefdom over which
only their writ would prevail.The day one hears that a politician or his relation has been convicted of an offence carrying a long jail sentence,true democracy can be said to have arrived in India.
