i think theyve made it very obvious especially this year that its all about money. also with the new euro drivers coming in and stuff from F1 or whatever. IMO this WAS one of the last great all american sports. SINCE its become all about money, why wouldnt some things be "fixed" here or there? Thats how money works. ; )

...First off I can't say that it has or has not come to that. What I can say is that it could very well exist. In fact if you think about it, the fact that Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr and Jimmy Johnson being on the same team next year makes the conditions very favorable for "bookies" to set up and bet on. There would be equal equipment between two fan rivals and driver skill would be the determining factor. Also the chase would benifit such environment. A great betting environment.

...The thought has crossed my mind before you asked the question. I really hope that is not the case. I hope that Dale Jr is going over there to win and not to play the game (so to speak).

...A perfect scenario would be to watch next year unfold. If one team was to do better then the number of bets would go to that team. If the bookies sees that they can make more money by suddenly letting another driver get hot then that would happen.

...Now everything that I just said is purely in a hypothetical situation. I am making no accusations as to the existence of such system. But I am not denying the fact that it could easily exist.

No.

The only smart and fun way to gamble on NASCAR is by blind lottery.

It's a crap shoot, anyway!

Tell you what, those mobsters must be rolling in the dough with the favorites winning all the time.

One truism in NASCAR; 43 teams intent on out racing one another bad enough to cheat won't back off for no amount of money.

Do they care if it cost the mob a million dollars or any idiot fool enough to bet the farm? I doubt it!

The folks who run NASCAR already have a sure thing and it probably nets them 10,000 for every dollar they spend. Do you really think that 2 will get you one or 1 will get you 100 fires them up?

Why risk the "concrete galoshes"?

Besides, they could possibly know all the same "hitmen" and NASCAR pays better and are probably smarter than your average mafioso boss.

Probably smart enough not to bet on the outcome of a race.

Kenny Schrader said it best, "NASCAR couldn't care less about what car is upfront when a race ends".

It's their job to put on the race for the track promotor. The outcome is decided by 43 teams and drivers and the last I heard, they have never come to an agreement on who should win.

The only thing I see that needs fixing is for you to go somewhere else and stop bashing Nascar. If you don't like the sport..... leave.

No. NONE of these sports are fixed and such tales are the creation of conspiracy theorists.

Watergate was a conspiracy. The notion stated above is poppycock. Not you, just the theories.
