It is a medal from The Grand Army of the Republic 1861-66. What I am looking for more spacificly is what the numbers on the side of the star represent? Really any information would be really helpful. Is there a website I can go to?

The source below is for the Marshall Historical Society which deals with Grand Army of the Republic items. There is a "contact us" link which should prove helpful. BTW, the Grand Army of the Republic was the name given to the Northern or Union Army in the Civil War.

Try asking at the Orders & Medals Society of America Website at:

Some people should get their facts straight before coming off looking like a fool, but instead of doing a two minute Google, they say the first stupid thing that pops into their brain. Not to mention any names but the guy at the top of the answers comes to mind.

Check out the link.

You might try your local SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) . The people who dress up and re-enact the Civil War battles OR your local museum. I'd go for the re-enactors myself. Some of them do a lot of research so they can play their part better.

Good luck

i might like to comprehend, too........... did you already know of a female named Sarah Barney Belcher of Taunton, Massachusetts ? Her fourth technology of descendants had 3 commonly happening names in it....Douglas MacArthur, Franklin Roosevelt, and Winston Churchill........good blood line there, so no marvel truly, that Arthur IV needed no longer something to do with the expectancies.........
