When I've asked about which Christians to trust, many of the answers have said, "Read the Bible and you will know who is trustworthy."

This makes it sound like all Christians are ON THEIR OWN to interpret the Bible without any guidance from others. Sure, you trust the holy spirit, but that kind of trust has led to the thousand-plus denominations found in the US alone. Each denomination is filled with heretics in the eyes of most of the others, even though each one believes that they've interpreted the Bible correctly.

So how do seekers discover the best course to follow when those who SUPPOSEDLY KNOW say, "Just read your Bible." Wouldn't they also be the first to condemn the seekers if they interpreted the scripture differently?

- Story of my life... But if "they" who judge say I'm wrong, so be it. I know my beliefs fall far outside the norm of Christianity, far enough that many would call me a heretic, blasphemous, and many others I'm sure. Let them have their judgments, for the first time in years I am happy

You make an excellent point. I can't imagine how rudderless most Protestant Christians must feel with so many competing, supposedly correct interpretations of Scripture to choose from. When I have a question about Scripture, I turn to a unified theology that is based on 2000 years of study and faithfulness to the original Christian ideology. I feel a great deal more secure in the "correctness" of the guidance provided by the Catholic Church than the flavor of the month from the thousands of Protestant churches.

No, i think of a christian could place self belief in the Holy Spirit to interpret the Bible to him/her. this might additionally be supported with the preparation of a clergyman and by potential of attending bible learn team. although, this is unfavourable if one in all those christian has no longer rather handed by any era of tutelage to be attentive to what it potential to be a christian or being born lower back yet as a mature christian with the in-filling of the Holy spirit, as you're reading the bible, the Holy spirit would be providing you with interpretation to the word of God and this does not propose you're able to see your self as somebody that has arrived, attend bible learn the place you could rub minds with different christians and characteristic a teachable heart.

The Bible says that the Holy Spirit is to teach us the Bible.

And we're all learning from Him, as the Bible says true believers come to all truth by the Holy Spirit. It starts with the true Gospel in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, that if you believe that Jesus, who is God, died for your sins on the cross and rose again, you are saved by that.

No, it's the "literal word of God" except when they need to apply it to something else. One of them tried to tell me that the bible "literally say that homosexuality is a sin." When I pointed out that it "literally" doesn't say that he got angry with me. It's kind of like saying something is always true except when it's false. They can't have it both ways. But we all know they'll try.

There are various sound methods of Biblical scholarship that, when coupled with proper critical thinking skills, truths are fairly easy to discern.
