I have 2 cats. One is an angel, and the other is a lil terror. He has created such problems for me. But I love him dearly!! The landlord said, either the problem cat goes, or i will be evicted. He doesn't use his kitty box like he is supposed to. I have tried several different things. I changed litter brands. Got the expensive Dr. Elselys brand. I have 4 kitty boxes that I change daily. I put down foil where there are the most problem areas. I have sequestered him in the back room. I have also taken him to the vet to check for UTI.
I have tried to find a home for him, but no luck yet. I would move, but can't afford to. Where would I take him? I have been looking into getting an apt where the landlord would be willing to work with me on security/pet deposits, but also have had no luck........any advice? Please keep in mind, I do not want to get rid of him!!

Well first thing, you MUST clean all soiled areas with a good enzyme cleaner made for cat urine such as Simple Solutions or Natures Miracle. You can find all the urine spots using a black light. Your cat will continue to use the spots unless they are cleaned well. Just because you can't smell it doesn't mean your cat can't.

I would stick to keeping him in a room for now. It may be nerves that are going him to be anxious and go elsewhere. I would also have him checked again for a UTI with a direct sample taken from his bladder if you havn't tried that.

This is an extreme solution, but it sounds like you are desperate. Buy a large dog crate, and something to use to create a raised shelf inside it. Fill the entire bottom of the crate with litter. Put the cat's food, water, and bed on the shelf (the shelf should be just big enough for these items). Keep the cat in the cage - he now has no choice but to use the litter. Keep him there for a couple of weeks. You can let him out to play when you can keep a close eye on him and make sure he doesn't pee anywhere. After a couple of weeks, stop covering the whole cage with litter, just put a large litter box in there. If the cat uses it while in the cage, congratulations. Give him a nother week or so in the cage, then start reintroducing him to the house, one room at a time. Let him be free in the room with the cage first (leave cage set up and open - he may want to use the litter in there - remember he's used to it now). Every few days, if no accidents, you can add another room to the area you allow him in.

I agree with Crystal - Natures Miracle works great to get out odors (and stains). Also, the cat will keep going to the spot that smells like urine. The cage and bathroom ideas might work also - it sure can't hurt to try! But you have to get the odor out first! Good luck!!

If the landlord doesn't live there with you, there's nothing he can do.

We have a cat with the same problem, and the landlord can do nothing about it.

Here there is no such law as a no pets law, and the only time you can't have a pet in your house/apartment is that if you share the house/apartment and the other occupant is allergic to animals.

Well, first of all, I don't think that I can compete with Crystal's answer at all! It was really good! But I think I want to add something to it.

Ask your landlord to give you one week, one week to prove that your cat is a good cat. Do as Crystal said, and reward your cat for using the potty outside. When he goes to the bathroom inside, rub his nose in it and spank him and lock him in the bathroom. Cats hate bathrooms, what with their tile floors that make scratchy noises when their claws click and all the shiny white porcelain. Ignore the meows, your cat will learn. But be patient, have faith in your kitty. :)

You can diaper him, like cat breeders do with their stud cats so they won't do this to their homes. The things are available online, or you can make your own. Use google.com and type in 'stud pants' or 'stud pants feline'.
