Hello, Hope everything is well with everybody.
I didn't know where to ask on this, I asked on an Islamic forum before.. but I didn't get a very clear answer, that was down to the wording of my question I think.
So, I wish to convert to Islam.
I have been very seriously considering this for several months now; and thinking about it since I can remember.
I'm not sure this is long enough , but I am convinced.
Can anybody help me create, some sort of list? I know it sounds very bad.. but of things I should know and do before I take the next step and take my Shahada..
I want to know what sort of things I should know first.
I have read a translation of the Qur'an, and found its message extremely powerful... What else should I get?
I mean, I am very familiar with The Sirah, I read Hadith daily and I believe the word of the Qur'an with my heart now.
I have read numerous books on Islam, - it's pillars , it's teachings, it's festivals..etc. So anything else I should know? THANK YOU

I think you already are a better Muslim than me. I am muslim because I was born muslim. I mean I pray to God and I avoid sins but I never read the whole Quran. I never read Hadith or Shirah (I don't even know what shirah is, by the way). I don't have any book about Islam. So, I think you are already a Muslim all what you have to do is say the Shahada and you will become a complete Muslim.
Welcome to the Islamic, you will have to face a lot of problems, insults and blames for a guilt you didn't do.
Here is a list of the things that are not allowed in Islam in case you don't know about them.

Yes Muslims are allowed to wear silver rings. Most Muslims do not wear any thing else besides ring in their finger. Any thing to wear that is made of Gold is prohibited to Muslims. So most who know do not wear gold except the ignorant ones who do not know or don't care being not religious.

Just my opinion.
If you truly believe in your heart there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad (pbuh) is the messenger and prophet of Allah then there is NOTHING more you need to know prior to taking the shahada. You have obviously done a load of research and likely, inshaAllah, you will continue to read more and more and learn more and more. It sounds as you truly believe in what the shahada says and for the time being it is best to hasten to make it my friend. Remember this...it took 23 years for the entire religion to be revealed to prophet Muhammad (pbuh) so it can certainly take no less for me or you to learn it all. I do think it is necessary to read and know everything up until the point where you believe in the shahada, then make the shahada and continue your studies in Islam.
May Allah reward you and make your journey and easy one.

No sacraments or procedures are prescribed for a person who likes to join the faith of Islam. One needs only to pronounce or to believe in the contents of the Declaration of the Faith:
"I bear witness that there is no God but the Almighty God and that Mohammad is a messenger of God."
When a person states that he believes in the truthfulness of Mohammad, he actually states that he believes in all what Mohammad introduced and in all his teachings. This includes all the Qur'anic teachings, all the deeds and all the sayings of Mohammad, whether in the matter of belief or in the area of practice.
When a person believes in the contents of the Declaration of the Faith, he automatically becomes a Muslim. His pronouncement of the Declaration is a proof to the other Muslims that he is a believer in Islam. Because of this, no Muslim can deny him the admission into the faith because he is a believer in Islam and needs nothing more beyond it.
A Muslim convert is equal to any other Muslim in the eyes of the Holy Qur'an. Furthermore, a convert has more advantages than a born Muslim for two reasons:
A convert deserves a bigger reward from God than a born Muslim. A convert becomes a Muslim usually after a great deal of research and some psychological crisis, because changing religion is not an easy task. It takes a great deal of courage and effort on the part of the convert, while a born Muslim receives his religion by inheritance.
A convert is considered, by his conversion to Islam, pure and free of any previous sin. All his previous sins are wiped out entirely. He will be responsible only for the sins which he commits after becoming a Muslim. Thus, if a person becomes a Muslim in the early morning, after sunrise, then he dies before noon, he is entitled to enter paradise without having practiced or performed any of the devotional duties which a Muslim is required to do. He did not have to perform morning prayer because his conversion to Islam took place after sunrise, nor did he have to perform the noon prayer because he did not live until noon, the prayer time.
Immediately upon becoming a Muslim, you should take a bath or shower (i.e. Ghusl).
If able, you should then offer a two Rak’at prayer.
Then you must study and act upon the principles (pillars) of Islam, and study and believe in the six articles of Faith.
GHUSL :
The full ritual washing of the body with water alone to be pure for the prayer.
To do Ghusl:
Wash your private parts.
Do Wudu .
Wash your entire body from the top to bottom and from right to left, without touching your privates parts again.
It is necessary to have Ghusl on embracing Islam, after sexual intercourse or seminal emission, at the end of menstruation, after childbirth and before being buried (when your body is washed for you). It is also customary to have Ghusl before the Jumua and Eid prayers. It is necessary to be in Ghusl and in Wudu (or alternative to do Tayyamum under certain circumstances) being doing the Salat or touching the Qur’an.
Welcome

You're all set, we say that islam is not a religion of cultures it is a UNIVERSAL Religion. So as long as you have read and understand the Quran then you are all set, welcome our new sister in islam : )
one more thing, I just want to warn you about where you get your information from, make sure it is only from reliable islamic websites or from a trusted muslim or in the mosque, because these days there are alot of haters and wicked people who have their own agendas and who spread false information under the label of ''Islam'', I've even seen a website with a link to ''the Quran'' that was actually not the Real Quran! the website owners had pretended they are a muslim website in an attempt to trash or discredit islam. So yeah just be careful where you get your information, and make sure it is reliable.

Jasmine B. Salam and God be wih you.
You sound like already prepared to take Shahada. You need to learn how to perfom daily Muslim prayers and need to memorize furst surah of Quran Al-Fatihah and some shortest suras of Quran which are at the end of Quran to perform your salats.
I give you a web site to read.
http://www.islamreligion.com/category/33/
It may strengthen your Eiman
faith. Yes one must be sure about this big change and know all basics before taking shahada. Keep in touch. My email is at yahoo.com
Best thing for you would be to attend a large enough Mosque in your city where you can find somd friends to lean how to practice Islam and daily prayers from. If you need I can get you in touch with a well learned female who is like my daughter. She lives in Canada. She will be very helpful to you in chatting on MSN and to learn more from her if you ask me for her.
