People say they don't believe, even when presented with the evidence and after examining the evidence. Yet they still do not believe. This is just plain stubbornness IMO.

I don't think our beliefs are really under the control of the will. I don't think you could simply decide, by a mere act of the will, to believe something different.

But then again, i don't think "faith" is just believing. Faith is acting on your beliefs. It's trusting. So, even though I don't think our beliefs are under the control of the will, I do think faith is an act of the will.

On one hand, Paul definitely describes faith as something other than 'I work', which I understand to mean something other than an action that you take, in other words a gift from God.

On the other hand, I would definitly say that rejecting the truth is an act of will.

No. You are projecting your defect of stubbornness onto others. All of us literally 'live by faith,' i.e. experience what we have been conditioned to believe in unless we examine that embedded belief system and ego identity. People of so-called religious faith are almost always oblivious to the deeper meaning of what they claim to have faith in and entirely miss the point of ego-transcendence and rebirth of authentic being.

Yes, Faith is forcing yourself to believe something in spite of evidence, and logic to the contrary...

What you call 'evidence' they do not.

However, we know "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been CLEARLY SEEN, being understood from what has been made,

SO THAT MEN ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE."

You've got your feathers crumpled, "FAITH IS JUST THAT, AN ACT OF FAITH!!"
